  • Nice discount to the Rockford P1683
I'm running these speakers through my factory deck. These in the front and Infinity Reference in the rears, main reason for doing this is for sound balance, most of the time if you install (4) of the same speaker the rears basically get cut out entirely, you mine as well just focus on the front staging and do away with the rears. However if you can find fronts that will run slightly lower than the rears, rears that push out more volume with the right speakers you'll get a bit more bass and a more balanced fill.I'm big on JBL, Rockford, Polk or Infinity speakers.I've used them all but I always check the specs and generally use different brands from the front to the rears. And if you look at premium factory audio systems such as Sony, Bose, JBL, a lot of times you'll find the small magnet speakers in the front, big magnet in the rears, point being, same brand different speakers.Just saying don't be afraid to mix and match depending on what your working with. These speakers they're clear, mids and highs aren't too sharp, Infinitys ARE sharp, Alphasoniks are more rounded out which allows me to turn it up, on the bass end, what can I say you want bass, you have to buy a sub and amp period, no magic trick for big bass on a factory head.If you want the license plate to shake, sub+amp, I faded the balance slightly to the rear and at least get decent inconspicous bass.It sounds good it's clean but it's not noticeable outside the vehicle.Alphasoniks sound really good though, surprisingly good, they can handle max volume without distortion honestly they were probably on par with the 100 dollar Rockfords, quieter but the mids and highs are crisp rounded and it's more musical, some speakers are too accurate like you can hear each individual instrument loop like its being played on Cakewalk, too mechanical.I prefer probably JBL, or Rockfords for the rears as they're just a little more fun, the Infinitys just sound too accurate, too mechanical. For sure i'd recommend these though, this is probably the cheapest I've ever gone with speakers, I wasn't sure if it was a get what you pay for situation but in this case i think i got more, so I don't think you'd go wrong here and really if your going super cheap just buy these for the fronts, buy a 12" powered sub and I think that would be a pretty decent cheapy set up, Rockville has a 12"150 dollar amp+sub with the wiring you could probably get out just over 200 and the sound wouldn't be an embarrassment to those around you. ... show more

  • Great Value and Great Sound
I was impressed with how great these sound given the price point. These were a great first step to improve the rotten stereo system in my F150 (F150 owners know what I'm talking about).

  • Decent value
I put these in a 1999 Contour. Driven off of an Alpine single din head unit. They sound better than the stock sounded, but in this application, they're not going to knock your socks off. They're just pretty okay.

  • Great upgrade for my stock Ford Focus 6x8 speakers
Not much in the box, but includes everything you need: Coaxial 6x8 speakers with quality rubber surround and quality textile tweeter, self-stick foam strip to attach around the back rim of the speaker to ensure a good, sealed and cushioned mount, somewhat confusing spec and install sheet apparently covering all 6+ speaker sizes in the series, compactly protected in a styrofoam block. The outer metal flange has all the possible mounting holes and tabs you might need, depending on the details of your car mounting location. For mine, I just snapped off the 3 or 4 tabs sticking out from the speaker rim, as my mount used only holes in the rim itself. The speakers sound great; I was able to fade in these vs the factory OEM in the back and these sounded normal, while the OEMs sounded muddy. These speakers are also quite sensitive unlike many others, so even a standard head unit should power them just fine without an amp. There are just two tricky things -- firstly the center tweeters are mounted at a very slight angle away from perpendicular, so make sure you mount both speakers "pointing" the tweeter the same way. Secondly, there is a tiny triangular push-switch on each tweeter allowing you to boost it +3dB if the switch is in the "out" position; make sure the switches on both speakers are set the same. ... show more

  • Great sounding speaks an excellent value
I really enjoy the speakers they feel look and sound excellent with my aftermarket deck. I am able to hear vocals and high frequencies at a much lower volume level. I am using them on a 2008 ford crown victoria. I will say though there is some adjustment if you pay attention as you install them. They do not fill out the ford factory 6x8 adapter plate that is in the cars. It is off to one side and must be held centered as you screw it down or there is a gap and it mounts crooked. The other thing i have not seen mentioned anywhere is if you use the screws as most would that are on the car. The speaker frame is shallower than the original speakers. So the screws now pass through the mounting plate and into the metal of the door. Including shorter screws or noting they may be needed would be helpful. Otherwise besides the scratch/dents in the doors there is potential for rattle or strain and the mount plate to crack. I will say after having them in for a couple weeks they do not rattle so far. Just something to be aware of. ... show more

  • Works great in a 2015 F250
I installed 4 of these to replace factory Ford speakers in a base sound system crew cab 2015 Super Duty. You need the Metra 72-5601 Speaker Wiring Harness to do this in the correct parity. Everything installed smoothly and works well. They require more current to produce the same sound level, but are noticeably clearer than the speakers they replaced. This was the desired result, and I am happy in that regard. I did set the tweeter 3db boost switch the same on all the speakers, and I think it was ON. This is great for spoken word, but music is a little bright for my taste and you can't quite tune around it without diminishing the upper part of the midrange. I think I may disassemble and try it again with them off. Apart from that, no complaints and it was an easy install. ... show more
