    • Don’t Waste Your Time
As a mold assessor I rely on a particle counter almost daily. In 3 years I have gone through 2 of these. Both the same issue with charging. The battery died in both independently , put in a new batteries and they powered on, except they continue to show the battery as if it’s charging. After sitting overnight it dies. Charges back up but continues the cycle. Tried to order yet another battery (now on 3) and same results. Now the first unit has totally died. So frustrating. ... show more

I bought this item back in November of 2014. This item has turned out to be a nightmare. Initially the product worked fine for 10-20 times of use but afterwards some serious defects start to appear. The screen would turn on and off during usage making it unable to get a reading. After 30-40 times of usage, the device finally stopped working. The screen can be turned on, but it will not be able to run air quality tests. Unfortunately because we did not use this on a regular basis, we found out the problem after the one year warranty. We suspect this might be caused by the low quality battery that came with it. The battery says the charging voltage should by 8.4V and it is supplying 7.4V, but the device and the adapter both says that they require and provide 9V. This is either an issue with their design or a built in scheme to wear out the batteries. I would not recommend buying this product to save you hours of frustration. ... show more

Don't buy this meter. I had to return my meter 3 times to Extech due to it failing. After 20-30 uses it freezes up. Extech has no answer on why it does that.
