It was easy to install and fit nicely on the bedframe. It looks like cardboard in the way it's designed but it's actually a much stronger material and functions well. Let me first start with making sure you know this is for just the folding mats. This is not a frame with mats. I only mention this because my wife initially thought we were getting a frame for the price. With that said, there are some good things, and some concerns. I’ll start with the good. Its support is good. It fits our existing king size frame well and does “fill the gaps” so to speak. Not that our mattress was falling through the frame but, these mats do eliminate all gaps providing a consistent and “solid” surface for the mattress to rest on. This is the reason for the support change. You’re essentially resting your mattress on a “hard” surface rather than one with “give”. They’re somewhat lightweight but not to the point you feel they’re not going to hold up. I’d say this speaks to the life expectancy or durability factor. I can’t imagine these will weaken or breakdown quickly as they’re stationary and fitted to a specific size. I’m not a huge fan of the covers and zippers. To be honest, it kinda gives me a “cheap” sense or feel. This is one of the cons in my opinion specifically because it plays into my biggest con. The price. While I do feel they work and do what is advertised, I think the price far outweighs value. Consider this before purchasing and compare. To me, the price isn’t a little too high, it’s just flat out too much. To be frank, I could get the same “performance” results with using plywood which would cost me about 1/3 of the price. Just keeping it real. And the folding feature really has no impact. You’re laying it under your mattress fully open and you really don’t see it. Again, there are options that can achieve the same results at a lower cost. I’m always asked about smell of household products but I didn’t notice any irregular smell when opening or handling this product. Overall, it works, I’m sure it will last, and it does hold in place. Do I think there’s a huge value statement to be made with this, absolutely not. I hope this helps you!
