I believe this machine is great for beginners use, this is my first time ever buying a espresso machine, I definitely love it! If you love Starbucks or making your own coffee at home, then I think this machine gets the job done.

    • Makes great coffee. A couple of minor hiccups.
After a small learning curve, I am now making coffee-house worthy Lattes and Cappuccinos with the ILAVIE 20 BAR ESPRESSO MACHINE. I have a much smaller espresso machine that i have been happy with, but from what I’ve read, it isn’t a true Espresso Maker. The difference has to do with pressure vs. steam, or something about the way it pushes the water through the coffee grind. I’m not clear on the details, but you can look it up if your interested. I just want excellent tasting coffee with a little kick to it. The ILAVIE Espresso machine seems to be quite different than my smaller unit. It has a water tank, so no more filling from the top for every pull of coffee. You’ll want this if you regularly make coffee for two, or oversize coffee for just you. The coffee filters for single and double amounts are much smaller on this machine. There is only one tiny hole in each filter, as opposed to many holes, per filter, for my older unit. This must mean it requires much more force to push the coffee through the filter. The pulls are also much frothier and result in a smaller amount of coffee in your cup. The coffee is stronger. The amount of water that goes through the filter can be adjusted to suit your individual preference. I haven’t tried this though. The steamer is also more robust on this coffee maker. I checked that it works. It does, but I’m not using it. I got a countertop milk frothier, after painting the kitchen with milk too many times with the frother on my first Espresso Maker. I stick to the counter-top fool-proof method now. No mess and no fuss. It seems like the water heats instantly. It is amazingly fast to get an expresso out of this machine i like that a lot. I have had a couple problems. One of them I am which I am chalking up to user error and/or the wrong size coffee grind: the filter sometimes gets stuck in the machine, and does not come out with the filter holder. It isn’t easy to it get out when it does this. When I finally get it out, there are coffee grounds everywhere that need to be cleaned up. Adjusting the size of the grind, and making sure not to overfill the filter should eliminate this problem. But it may be related to another problem that seems to be more ofa design flaw. The filter really should stay in the holder when you turn the handle and remove the holder. It shouldn’t get stuck in the machine even if you make the same mistakes I did. When you remove the holder, it loosens the filter. If you try to tamp out the wet coffee holding the handle the entire filter falls out. There is no indicator to tell you if the filter is locked into the holder or loose. It remains level and looks the same either way. I think this is a minor flaw, but it can turn into a big inconvenience. I just had to to dig the filter out of the garbage, trying to dump the used coffee grinds. I thought the filter was locked into the handle, but it wasn’t. Not fun at all. I am docking a star for being unable to visually tell if the filter is locked into the handle holder. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the finished product: the espresso is delicious. ... show more

So, I've been using this machine for about a week now, making about 2 to 3 cups a day......super easy to use, and super easy to clean.....for any new beginner switching from K-cup style coffee to ground coffee, I would recommend this machine...... The only bad thing I can say honestly is that I wish it made iced coffee as well, but for the price and quality, this is a great buy! ... show more

It's an attractive cup, but it's too small for me, so I can't use it very well for frothing milk. I'm using it more for as a measuring cup or salad dressing, and it works well for that.

    • Use this everyday in my kitchen
I am not a coffee drinker so I don’t use this for frothing milk for coffee but I do use almost every day in my kitchen. It is stainless steel and the measurements are etched into the sides of it so I have high hopes it will last forever. It is not the thickest of stainless steel, but I suppose that is expected for it’s original use. The handle is small and a little awkward to hold especially if you are carrying hot liquid in it. ... show more

    • Great Little Pitcher but Awkward to Hold Handle
This pitcher is so cute! I wasn't too sure if it would show up with the black stripes or if that was just a lighting in the photo, I'm super glad it was just the lighting as mine doesn't have that thick black stripe. (At least the "Bright Silver" that I ordered doesn't) As a retired barista I was thinking the pitcher was going to be larger, however, I think the size for a house hold is perfect! I love that it gives the measurements on the inside, that it is stainless steel, and dishwasher safe. The only downside to this pitcher is the handle. It's very awkward for both me and my husband to hold because it is such a big half square shape. It would definitely be more comfortable if it would curve inward at the bottom. Overall, this is a great little pitcher! ... show more
