We got this in April and and it almost Dec .I've used it everyday. Now i can give an honest opinion, pros and cons. *This was really easy to install. Our tile guy installed it for us. *As soon as you get it, open it and remove all packing and run it to see it work. Including the open and close shutter thing. * The noise level is normal . It has 2 powerful fans. What'd you expect? * ours is vented outside. The fans are really powerful , i usually run it at leval 2. Level 4 is too powerful and i feel it throws some smoke back in the house * Lights are good. *The motion sensor is AWESOME. It works perfectly fine. People said, it'll go bad . I said, so? Everything will break down eventually. *I am 5' 8" and i hardly ever turn it on by accident. ****Oh.. the hood will TURN ON automatically when it senses steam and vapors!!!! *it's super easy to clean. * I have gone a step further to increase it's life, by adding a light , grease trapping sheet. You can see how much oil it traps!. ( i bought it from girls famous online clothing store Sh!en. 12 for 2 dollars and magnets from Dstore.) * The spaces between Hood and cabinets did not get any oil or lint trapped in there. * Looks so good too.it was replaced by a micro/hood combo which didn't give me much space to work large pots.. now it's fun to cook. * the remote works too.. Sorry i have no real cons.. I did do my homework before buying this and it hasn't disappointed...YET..

Wonderful range hood at a great price. Friends are envious. The instructions are not in proper English and are a bit confusing (why is it so hard for manufacturers to get this right in their manuals?). But! do these four things to make installation easy: 1. Throw in the trash the screws and crappy anchors that come with the unit and buy #10 screws with a hex head that you can use a socket on with your drill. So much easier to install this way and you won't risk stripping out the head of your screw in these awkward positions. 2. Temporarily mount a 2x4 on the wall about a half inch below the lower edge of the hood. This gives you the ability to place the hood up there and mark the locations of where the screws go in. I was able to install it myself without a helper (but a helper is nice to have). Pre-drill your screw holes. When you're ready to mount the hood, install two screws where the keyhole slots are in the hood, but leave them sticking out about 3/8". This will allow you to lift the hood up onto the 2x4 and then wiggle the hood over the screw heads, and slide it back into the narrow end of the keyhole slot. Tighten those two screws. Then install the other other two screws that have a plain hole in the hood top. 3. Before you install the hood you need to drill a 1.5 inch hole in the cabinet where the power cord will run. Put a dot of lipstick on the cord right where it would be the center of the hole. Put the hood up on the 2x4 and then let the dot of lipstick touch the bottom of the cabinet. That's the center of where you drill your 1.5 inch hole. 4. If the rear vertical panel of the hood will be screwed into drywall and not a stud, get drywall anchors that have the coarse screw anchors (the ones that you screw into the drywall, they have a lot of holding power). Get the larger ones rated for 75 pounds or so. I used four screws on the top, and only two on the rear vertical panel of the hood (there's four holes, but only two were easily accessible for screwing). One more thing (and this was poorly explained in the instructions). The bottom of the cabinet that you attach the hood to needs to be a solid flat surface. My cabinet had a lip on it (most will, it's just part of cabinetry-making). So you'll need to screw some wood in there so the hood rests agains a solid, even, and flat surface). It doesn't matter what kind of wood because it won't show. Just make sure it is at the same level as the cabinet lip. Good luck! PS: To the manufacturer: You should include a lighweight cardboard template with this unit. It would make installation so much quicker and easier. You'd get a lot of love and compliments for doing that. And let me rewrite your owner's manual for you!

suction is strong and it looks nice. installation was easy; mine required rear venting so i had to simply move the coverplate from rear to top and the connector/baffle from top to rear. my setup also needed to be hard wired, so i cut the cord and used the cord protector it had for protecting the romex where it came through the sheet metal. fan controls are good and the wave feature is nice. the light switch instructions were vague on how to use the dimmer function (turns out you go to turn it off and hold til light reaches desired level and then let go) and as far as i can tell the dimmer does not work with the remote. speaking of the remote; very flakey function until i opened it up and tensioned the springs that push against the battery. also about the light; i saw in the question section that one person asked about the harshness of the light...she was answered with "just dim the lights". it turns out the manufacturer claims the led bulbs to be 4000k. to my eye i would have said 5000k. they also informed me that these are a custom design so you can not find any standard replacement. i would dearly love to get bulbs with a warm or soft light (around 2500-3000k) but until the manufacturer offers that we are out of luck. now onto the noise level. i realize that everyone has different expectations but... this thing is LOUD! one of the reasons i bought it was the listed decibels and the reviews that claimed it was quiet... bs people! let's be honest with our audience and not mislead buyers looking for real info in the reviews. overall i like this unit as it does move a lot of air and looks nice hence my 4 star rating.
