They want me to return it but will not send me a prepaid shipping label. WARNING!! Do not use Federal Express for shipping. This is a very nice-looking Island hood vent. Packing was excellent and sturdy. Not exactly what I would call quiet. Flexible vent sounds like crunching paper when you turn on and off. On high fan setting it is very loud. If your ceiling is lower like mine (7' 8") My husband did not want to cut off 2nd sleeve to cover a few inches exposed on the bottom. 2nd sleeve if installed as instructed would have covered the side air vents. It would be an advantage if buyer has some or knows someone with construction and electrical experience that can help with installation. Not for a novice. Instructions are very basic and not much help troubleshooting problems you may run into. It took 3 men to install mine. What helped them was watching some you tube videos others had shared, when they were already in the middle of install and ran into problems. Could buy sturdier venting hose instead of the flexible (looks like dryer vent hose) that the unit comes with to avoid crunching paper noise. Also, blue protective film can be tricky to remove. We CAREFULLY loosened screws on top of glass hood to be able to lift and remove the blue film. Do not over tighten screws back on glass top. Not sure where the charcoal filters go in the unit I had purchased, especially since it vents out to my roof vent. I purchased a few months ago and unit was finally installed. Part of our kitchen renovation. Visually everyone loves the looks. So far seems to perform well, hope it lasts. Lot of work getting it installed. My husband opted to use matching kitchen white trim cover exposed area on top of hood vent. Does have great suction power, but it is not quiet. We have an open kitchen, dinning/ den all in one area. Cannot hear guests trying to have a conversation while vent is running on high. (My husband decided to drop down 1st sleeve, not used second sleeve.) ... show more
