I did this in a couple of hours on my own. I'm fairly handy but having good power tools helps as my husband is a wood worker. I installed on a metal door. Easily allows my aging dog who can't squat through the smaller doggy door anymore. He is 100 lb lab and very tall. Very happy with this door. For a handyman, this is easy to install. For a non-handy person, you will definitely need to hire someone. The door is large and allows my 125 pound Lab to go in and out with ease. The flaps are heavy duty, and doubled, so it was a bit different from their single flapped door, but poses no problems. This will definitely be more energy efficient than a single flap door. First, the flaps are super heavy, and double. The wind shouldn’t blow them like a single flap door. Plus there is a door cover that you can place over the opening in cases of really bad weather. Would recommend this product to anyone looking to put it in their wall. But make sure to order the door insert that lines the inside wall opening. This is not included, but should be. Great door. Easy to install and good at keeping the air from coming in the house. Not to mention the bugs. Switched from a single flap to this double flap with insulation strips. I’m happy with it.

This is a nice, very large door but we bought it specifically because it said it would fit a 3/4 inch door. The frame fits but the screws are a half inch too long and will not pull both sides of the frame tight. Luckily my husband is handy and was able to cut them down to fit. Also the template makes the hole a half inch too long so it has a lot of play when trying to match up the screw holes. Otherwise not horrible to install. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Installed the dog door into our wall going directly to our dog run on the side of the house and it works great for the cost. I have 2 German shepherds and a Husky, so i ordered the super large for the weight capacity and size because one of the shepherds is 110. The instructions say its optional to use caulking to seal it, but i highly recommend it. I used weatherproof silicone caulking on the outside of the house and all of the inside joints. I also used a weatherproof interior paintable polyurethane caulking for the interior wall side so it has a cleaner look. I am going to add in some carpet for the tunnel. You have to order the in wall kit along with this if you plan on doing what i did. But compared to others the price is very fair and the quality of the unit is actually really solid. ... show more

keeps bugs out and wind doesn't blow it open like single flap models. opening is deep, but my old dobberman girl with bad hips and knees can still make it thru.

The media could not be loaded. We bought the xl door. It works great. I did have to show the dogs how to use it. We also added foam to the sides because we have an older door which I believe is thinner.
