  • Good customer service!
I purchased this cooler to do away with the need of ice in traditional coolers on longer trips. We do a lot of off grid camping and with ice shortages in our area and the rise of in cost as well and also the worry that you don't have enough ice was the driving force to look at these coolers. I spent a lot of time researching and decided to go with ICECO JP60P unaware to me at the time of buying this cooler had been discontinued. so we took it on our first 8 day trip put cold food and drinks in it and it had been running a couple hours so the cooler was cold as well. after driving to our final destination about 3.5 hours, the cooler was set at 32 deg how ever the cooler was at 45 deg inside by the thermometer that we also put in it. so I made adjustments and got the inside temp down to about 33 deg but I had to set the cooler at 20 deg to get there. after getting back I was dreading having to reach out to customer service as i was concerned they would need the cooler back for repair and i no longer had the shipping box it came in. Once I reached out to them they did want the cooler for repair, I explained that I felt it was a bad idea because it would likely be damaged in shipping and asked if they would send a new thermostat and i would be happy to replace it my self. It would save them money and me time having to ship this large cooler for repair. They sent the parts! and some weeks later no parts had shown up tracking showed them in CA someplace likely lost. I reached out to them and at this point the parts were no longer available. they offered a pro series cooler but it was a 42 liter not the same size as the 60L I had purchased. I explained this would not due because of the extended trips we take off grid. they offered the VL60 PRO S but said I would need to pay some difference in cost. I was happy to pay the difference the asked and told them once I had the new cooler I would send the other cooler back to them. I received my new cooler yesterday and it is working great!!! In short it is an electric cooler and they are not with out problems from time to time. The customer service and willingness to work with their buyers sets this company apart from others! I would recommend this company and any product they are selling to friends and family. I would add also that this was NOT a Prime purchase so I feel the company went above what they truly needed to take care of my issue. ... show more

  • Not bad, but could use some improvements
Size: JP42 Color: Khaki
I bought this fridge for a road trip that involved all-day excursions. I liked the idea of the roto-molded case and the dual function of the unit, cooler, and fridge in 1. As it turned out, that ended up being a good thing. On the 2nd day of the trip, the low-quality cord came apart. After a few attempts to repair it, we ended up ordering a new cord and had it shipped to our hotel. The good news is the fridge turned cooler did a pretty good job of maintaining temps. Once I got a replacement cord the fridge seemed to be pretty efficient. I didn't measure the output, but a YouTube review indicated that average power consumption was just under 10w in their test. Obviously, that will go up or down depending on the ambient temp and what you set the cooler at, but that's in-line with more expensive coolers from Dometic and ARB. I left our cooler plugged into our vehicle overnight multiple times and didn't have an issue with maintaining temps or dead batteries. Overnight ambient temps were on the cool side though. As for noise, on eco mode, the cooler is quiet enough to not notice in the back of an SUV. On max mode, the cooler is quite loud, too loud to leave it anywhere near you while you wait for it to come to temp. It made an obnoxious ticking noise that made it even worse. I can live with that annoyance due to the infrequent need for that mode of cooling. The roto-molded handles are comfortable and seem durable, but the slit in the side is not large enough to fit a hook. If you want to use tie-downs or bungee cords to anchor the fridge, you'll need to take the tie-downs apart and bungee cords likely won't fit. That becomes annoying if you want to take the fridge with you at the end of the day. The final thing I'd like to mention is the DC to AC converter. The ICECO 45L costs less and includes both an AC and DC input, so you don't have to pack the bulky power converter, and that cooler currently costs less money. It may seem nitpicky, but anyone that's ever taken a road trip with a family knows that space can sometimes be in very short supply. You'll also need to purchase an extra DC cord for the power converter if you wish to leave the DC cord in a vehicle. If you don't need the drain feature in this cooler and/or don't have an issue with the metal construction of the 45L, I'd save a few bucks and buy that cooler instead. Otherwise, this fridge is a good option for the money if you can live with its quirks. ... show more

  • Pros & Cons
For the price this is a great cooler. We have taken it on three trips ranging from 4-10 days each. Temps ranged from 90°+ down as low as 34°. The cooler worked as advertised with the exception of the battery protection. While set in the middle setting it killed the battery in a 2018 4Runner after 2 days. Luckily there was another vehicle with us so we could jump it. This is a serious concern especially if camping remotely as we were in the deserts of Eastern Utah. Pros: Keeps things cold and dry. At 65° the cooler would stay around 41° after 6 hours of being unplugged. NO ICE NEEDED! This is probably the greatest feature of the unit. Food doesn't get wet as the ice melts. So much food gets ruined by being water logged and this completely eliminated that. For the cost, it is a great unit. My wife loves the blue and the unit looks well made. Cons: The 42 liter unit is quite small. While it is 42 liters the placement of the compressor causes the shape of the interior to be irregular making putting larger items like milk difficult. The unit isn't water or dust proof and/or resistant. If you are going to keep in in a vehicle or camper it's not an issue but putting it on the ground or outside I was constantly concerned about dust and moisture. Camping is dirty and often wet. The battery protector isn't reliable. This was potentially the biggest concern. If we hadn't of had a second vehicle we would have been stranded in the deserts of Utah. Conclusion - I think this is the perfect cooler for the budget conscious and light duty user. If you will be using it in more rugged situations I think there might be value in a more expensive unit. ... show more
