This ice mold is just okay - and I say that because the lid drives me nuts, but everything else is ok. The lid doesn’t fit on snugly and as soon as you get it “on” it pops off and moves around when you pick it up. I tried carrying the water-filled mold to the freezer and setting it down and then putting the lid on, but what a pain. I like to use the lid so no particles get into my ice from other racks in the freezer. The thickness of the mold is not great so there is also a lot of flex when I pick it up and take to the freezer. Once it’s in and settled it did do the job, so technically it works. But it’s a bit annoying for having so much flex / thinness of the walls and mostly the lid not staying on for anything… So I guess this is my least favorite Stanley ice mold that I’ve tried so far.

The media could not be loaded. These ice molds are suited to the popular insulated stanley tumblers. What makes these ice molds unique is that each tray makes 4 cubes in a ring shape. They are able to stack in the tumbler from bottom to top and work well with the insulation in the tumbler to keep a beverage cold for hours. This set came with two ice cube molds (each making 4 ice rings) and two lids for the trays. I took off two stars for a few reasons. With the set I received, (sorry I forgot to add the photos of the lids) the lids do not fit the trays well. I could lay them across the tops, but they did not fit around the edges or snap together, or do anything other than lay on top. I also found that when it was time to release the cubes from their molds, it took more effort than just a rectangular cube in a silicone mold. There was much more handling and pulling off the mold and I found my hands in contact with the ice which doesn’t happen with rectangular cubes. I also took a star off because for what this is, I did not feel it was a good value.

The ice molds take a little muscle to pop out, and the lids just sort of sit there, but the design is pretty nice and worth the effort. They do stack nicely. The ice basically wraps the inside of the tumbler and doesn’t get in the way of inserting the straw, like traditional ice cubes tend to do when they freeze together into blocks and chunks. This is tumbler dependent of course, but one of my daughter’s tumblers still had two of the ice rings in it after four days. Was pretty nuts! These definitely keep their water ice cold through quite a few refills.
