I had an algae bloom in my aquarium, and suddenly my tank was green and cloudy. In this situation water changes don't help, all they do is provide fresh nutrients and make things worse. The algae is microscopic, there's no way to filter it out of the water. Enter the hygger Aquarium UV Light. I put this device in the aquarium where the water flows pretty well from the filter. I closed the Protective Shield so it wasn't shining its UV light on all my tank critters -- the shield still allows water to flow past the UV light. It only took two days and it had killed all the microscopic algae that had turned my water green. There's no residue, there's no cloudy water, there's no green water. And absolutely zero harm to any of my fish or plants or other critters. Since then I've used its timer to only run a little while each day, just in case something like that happens again. I'm sure it would help if there were any kind of bacterial outbreak too. The water is crystal clear. I suppose I could take it out of the tank, but why? May as well leave it there running a little bit. Have green water in your tank? Buy this. No chemicals, no fuss, quick and perfect results, and long term benefits. I'm very happy with this item, I'm sure you will be too.

After dealing with a persistent green tinge to my new set up for months, despite heavily planted, sponge filter and oasis filter, biweekly water changes, limited light and correct water parameters it would not clear.i wish I had taken pictures of it at its worst but I was too depressed. Within two weeks the water was clear. I ran it at the minimum, 3 hours a day for 14 days, then every other day for a month. Now I run it for 3 hours once a week after trimming plants and water changes. No problem with my Cory and pleco breeding. The pics are kinda a before and after. The first pic was after a massive water change but within a week it was back to being cloudy. Second pic was last week prior to a water change.

I wish I would have taken before and after photos because this little beast turned my pea green reef tank water crystal clear again. I was very skeptical at first but I really needed a UV for my IM Nuvo Desktop aquarium. After comparing to other products (some cheaper) I felt this was the best one for my aquarium and I will admit... it did not disappoint! I will admit that on the evening of day 2, the water was still pretty green but by the next morning the was was clear. If you want the water to clear up fast then you can't expect any UV to do all of the work otherwise, it will take longer. You have to do your part too. Here is what I did... I placed the UV in the overflow compartment, UV must be completely open. I'd clean the glass 3-4x a day. Changed the filter pads as needed (1-2x a day), I have a surface skimmer so that pad was changed as well. I added new carbon and the light spectrum was lowered and on for only 4hrs a day. I completely covered the aquarium with a thick dark towel at night. The water is crystal clear on the 3rd day. Once the water was clear, I did a 2 gallon water change and cleaned all of the pumps and filters then replaced all of the filter pads and carbon. I reset the timer to 12hrs but will adjust if needed. Water parameters are great and water is still clear. Worth every penny!

100% recommend this for nano tanks! After messing with my substrate and hardscape, I had a huge algae bloom, and my water was entirely green. I ran this UV filter for 24 hours a day (with the shield closed so my fish and live plants stayed safe). After four days, my water was crystal clear again. Super happy with this product and every other Hygger product I’ve bought.
