I’m very happy with the performance of this hygger aquarium UV light. It works great and has been very useful for helping control algae and improve overall water clarity in the aquarium. One feature I really appreciate is the built-in timer options, with selectable 3, 6, 12, and 24 hour settings that make it easy to automate operation without needing an external timer. I also like the adjustable shield design that allows you to control the amount of UV light exposure by simply turning the dial. Another nice advantage is that the bulb is easily replaceable, which makes long-term maintenance much more convenient and cost effective. It’s also important to understand that UV lights like this primarily work on algae suspended in the water column, not algae attached to the glass, decorations, or substrate. Overall, this is a well-designed and effective UV light with useful features and easy operation for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. ... show more

After reviewing many products, i got this to help combat some algae. I decided to go with this one since Hygger usually puts out good products. I went with this one specifically because it mentions that it can be used in the tank and my filter has limited space. I ran the light overnight and by morning it had killed everything in my tank even with the shield on. I had very healthy fish that had no prior issues. Definitely go with an in filter UV unit if choosing to use a UV. Heartbroken. ... show more

The uv works great but the controller gets hot I have 2 and the temperature is different from one to the other. The pictures are after 3 hours of running.

Very good UVC light. The protective sleeve is good, and offers options for exposure. In addition, there are different ways you can set this up. In a sump, in a PVC pipe with pump attached, etc. There are also options to 3D print a sleeve with hose fittings, if you are creative. You could also just put it into a HOB filter, or a sump. Best of all, the UVC bulb is replaceable! So you can maintain your own equipment, rather than needing to look for, size, buy, adapt, and install a whole different UVC fixture if the bulb burns out, or loses effectiveness. ... show more
