Description

Magic Heat is the only UL listed heat reclaimer on the market. Magic Heat reclaims up to 30% of lost heat form your heating appliance and distributes it into your home using only .31 amp of power, roughly equivalent to a 40 watt lightbulb. Magic Heat is designed for heating appliances with inside flue temperatures exceeding 350 degrees and surface temperatures of the single wall pipe below the Magic Heat exceeding 280 degrees. The bottom crimp design makes this unit ideal for wood burning heating applications by containing any creosote within the chimney. A toggle switch allows the 225 CFM fan to operate in two modes, either run continuously or a pre-set thermostat automatically turns the blower fan on when the Magic Heat casing reaches 150 degrees and off at 120 degrees. Magic Heat is easy to install and must be installed between 12 and 24 inches from the appliance flue outlet using single wall connector pipe. How it works: As hot flue gases travel from your heating appliance upward through the flu, they heat the transfer tubes in the inner case. Fresh room air enters thru the back vents and is heated while traveling through the transfer tubes. The 225 CFM fan pushes out the warmed air through the tubes and into your home reclaiming up to 30,000 British Thermal Units (BTU) of lost heat. Flue gases are not restricted and continue up your chimney. Magic Heat is available in 6", 7" and 8" pipe diameters for wood, oil/coal or natural gas burning heating appliances. Manufactured in the USA. BTU output variable - 8000 minimum

  • Instant Heat - Initial Impressions Positive
Style Name: Wood Size: 6"
My Hearthstone 8570 has been doing its thing since 2012 at my cabin here in the mountains of East TN. I’m at about 2700ft elevation so that results in some nasty snowstorms and bitter cold temperatures, and when it gets down to about 10F or below the 8570 by itself radiating heat couldn’t keep the whole house warm, and struggled to keep the main room at a stable 70F (High vaulted ceiling). I got this thing installed today and been running it for about 3 hours now and the whole house is now getting some of that warm air being pushed. It’s about 20F out right now and it’s 74F in here and climbing. I’ve only burned about 5 pieces of wood so far as well. I would’ve had to burn a lot more to see those results before installing the Magic unit. As far as installation, the crimped bottom required me to recrimp it to allow my pipe to properly fit over it. The factory crimps were deep enough. So be aware you might need to do that. Once that was done it went together rather easily. The fan is a little noisy but it has to be to push the air hard enough to get away from the natural rising heat off of the stove. I do notice looking at my little thermal imager that the pipe above the unit is much cooler than it would previously be. So, I’m expecting a greater accumulation of creasote as many have said. I’m guessing that I can probably make it through a burn season here (Dec - Feb) without having to clean out the whole system, as I would only previously need to clean it once every 2-3 years. If I can make it one year per cleaning, I’ll be more than happy. That’s still an easy maintenance cycle. Luckily my winters here can be bitter and cold, but they don’t last too long. I’ll try to give an update after the seasons through. All in all, I’m pretty impressed with the initial performance I’ve seen. 1Week Update: I made some modifications, lowering the Magic unit to about 18” above the stove. The instructions say 12” to 24”, and I was previously just about at 24”. This did output more noticeable heat. It’s about 20F outside and the house is currently sitting at 79F with the air intake at 50%. Quite impressive so far. I did put a 600VA battery backup behind it and the heat doesn’t get to it. We had a power outage yesterday right as I started a fire so I got to test it’s longevity. The 600VA unit made it 1 hour 55 minutes running the Magic unit constantly. ... show more

  • Brilliant design, obtrusive fan noise that can be remedied!!!
Style Name: Wood Size: 6"
It is an amazing product!!! Extracting tons of heat from even meager fires. I look forward to using it for a long time. BUT!!!! Today it started out smooth, then took on a harsh note and stayed that way. It is only my second day, but i dont like the sound of the blower. I sit less than ten feet from my stove, my stove is centrally located in my home. I plan on fixing it. I burn wood constantly some weeks, i live at 7000 ft. If i am gonna be hearing a fan run nonstop, it is not gonna be intrusive sounding. Two days later: i now have a remote located squirell cage blower hooked up to it. No more electrical components getting hot. I will have a speed control on it in a few days. Also in the event of a power outage, i feel that with a nearly closed dampner, i won t damage the unit when run with out a fan. I have my unit mounted nearly 2' above my stove. So i feel i have a perfect set up now. My house is getting sooo warm now and the sound is gentle. ... show more

  • Greatest wood stove invention ever!
Style Name: Wood Size: 6"
After 24 years my fully functioning Magic Heat body was rusting through. I did not consider any other alternative- these are beyond fantastic and every wood stove should have one as the free reclaimed heat provides more heat than the stove by itself does. Easy install- cut section of stove pipe out and insert inline. In 24 years the only maintenance was replacing the thermal switch- a very easy task. Should have ten stars! ... show more

  • Reduced wood burned by at least 1/3
Style Name: Wood Size: 8"
I have been using this for a couple winters and it has worked well! It has reduced the amount of wood I need by at least 1/3. There are a few cons to it. First: when it arrived from the factory the fan was quite loud. My woodstove is in my living room and when this fan turns on it is difficult to hear the tv. I don't think this would be a issue in a garage or shop. Second: creosote buildup. A thin layer of creosote will burn off in stovepipe with hot enough fires, this is common and usually happens without being noticed. A problem arises because Magic Heat is so efficient at reclaiming heat that it can stop this process leading to dangerously high creosote buildup. I remedy this by burning hot intense fires and cleaning my stovepipe more frequently. Third: the cleaning knob can become stuck requiring disassembly and messy cleaning unless it is used religiously. This is especially true with slow smoldering fires and burning pine. With hot intense fires this much less of a problem. I remedied the noise problem by adding this brushless speed controller. https://www.amazon.com/Model-KBNH-13BV-Control-Shaded-Motors/dp/B07B4MNF84 It fit nicely inside the wiring box but required a hole to be drilled in the back. Pros: 1/3 less wood! Cons: Loud Creosote buildup Remember to keep tubes cleaned If you love your old woodstove and don't want to spent thousands on a newer more efficient model this may be a viable solution. ... show more

  • Does not fit 6" pipe
Style Name: Wood Size: 6"
Don't buy this product. 6" pipe does not fit in it. 6" pipe is the same diameter as the outlet from the Magic reclaimer.
