Description

Magic Heat is the only UL listed heat reclaimer on the market. Magic Heat reclaims up to 30% of lost heat form your heating appliance and distributes it into your home using only .31 amp of power, roughly equivalent to a 40 watt lightbulb. Magic Heat is designed for heating appliances with inside flue temperatures exceeding 350 degrees and surface temperatures of the single wall pipe below the Magic Heat exceeding 280 degrees. The bottom crimp design makes this unit ideal for wood burning heating applications by containing any creosote within the chimney. A toggle switch allows the 225 CFM fan to operate in two modes, either run continuously or a pre-set thermostat automatically turns the blower fan on when the Magic Heat casing reaches 150 degrees and off at 120 degrees. Magic Heat is easy to install and must be installed between 12 and 24 inches from the appliance flue outlet using single wall connector pipe. How it works: As hot flue gases travel from your heating appliance upward through the flu, they heat the transfer tubes in the inner case. Fresh room air enters thru the back vents and is heated while traveling through the transfer tubes. The 225 CFM fan pushes out the warmed air through the tubes and into your home reclaiming up to 30,000 British Thermal Units BTU of lost heat. Flue gases are not restricted and continue up your chimney. Magic Heat is available in 6, 7 and 8 pipe diameters for wood, oil/coal or natural gas burning heating appliances. Manufactured in the USA.

  • Works great
Style: Wood Size: 8"
I installed this unit on a wood burner that was a little small for my garage and I was having trouble getting warm enough to be comfortable to work in. This unit made all the difference in the world and I use less wood now to keep it warm also. Kinda pricey, but with the difference it made in temp I am happy I tried it. ... show more

  • It’s a big price. But worth it every penny. Review by Awkward1
Style: Wood Size: 8"
This is a great addition. It has cut my wood use by half. I’m so glad a friend told me this exists. IT’s thermostat is genius. Heating deeper in the house is now covered. I had a hard time and burned a lot of wood to do half of what this thing puts out. The fan is really livable. Not over powering my avr / tv , it’s really a quality product. I accidentally bought an 8’’ I didn’t know how to measure. My pipe is actually a 6 , but no worries I took a trip to my local Ace hardware. Bought six to 8’’ Adapters. $ 20. For the two. It’s about as loud as a central air up take . I just set my stereo a little louder not much . But theirs a valuable investment. And again totally happy , if you want more btu’s this thing is working is exceptional. This review was by Awkward1. ... show more

  • Brilliant design, obtrusive fan noise that can be remedied!!!
Style: Wood Size: 6"
It is an amazing product!!! Extracting tons of heat from even meager fires. I look forward to using it for a long time. BUT!!!! Today it started out smooth, then took on a harsh note and stayed that way. It is only my second day, but i dont like the sound of the blower. I sit less than ten feet from my stove, my stove is centrally located in my home. I plan on fixing it. I burn wood constantly some weeks, i live at 7000 ft. If i am gonna be hearing a fan run nonstop, it is not gonna be intrusive sounding. Two days later: i now have a remote located squirell cage blower hooked up to it. No more electrical components getting hot. I will have a speed control on it in a few days. Also in the event of a power outage, i feel that with a nearly closed dampner, i won t damage the unit when run with out a fan. I have my unit mounted nearly 2' above my stove. So i feel i have a perfect set up now. My house is getting sooo warm now and the sound is gentle. ... show more

  • I really like this thing
Style: Wood Size: 8"
I live in a large house and have a Vermont castings "Defiant" wood stove downstairs and a Buck Model 91 upstairs. I think both stoves are great units, but they have different advantages and disadvantages. The Buck puts out a lot more heat because it has a blower and a little bit bigger firebox. The Vermont Castings Defiant is easier to clean (because it has a pull-out ash tray) and the top gets hot enough to cook on it a little bit if you want to. (That does mean the Defiant is probably a bigger burn hazard for little children though.) I recently installed this heat reclaimer product on the duct coming out of the Defiant stove and now it seems to put out a lot more heat than it used to, perhaps even comparable to the Buck stove. They're in different rooms so its impossible to compare scientifically, but the improvement was dramatic. Another thing I like about heat reclaimer is the thermostatic feature. It starts blowing when the temp gets high enough in the exhaust gasses (which is pretty quick) and it stops when the temp goes down. That means I get heat sooner with this than I do with the Buck stove with the internal blower because the Buck stove has to heat up the whole firebox first (and the firebox has a pretty good bit of thermal mass). Another thing I like about this product is that when the fire burns down to a bunch of hot coals and the combustion basically stops the fan turns off, but the hot coals are still there and the firebox stays hot for a good while so it's easy to add wood and get another fire going with no need for lighting. This is of course because the heat is extracted from the flue above the stove instead of from the firebox, so the firebox temperature is relatively unaffected. By contrast, in the Buck stove, if you don't put wood in at the right time and the fire burns down, the blower can cool the firebox down so you have to restart a fire in a cool firebox from scratch. ... show more

  • Reduced wood burned by at least 1/3
Style: Wood Size: 8"
I have been using this for a couple winters and it has worked well! It has reduced the amount of wood I need by at least 1/3. There are a few cons to it. First: when it arrived from the factory the fan was quite loud. My woodstove is in my living room and when this fan turns on it is difficult to hear the tv. I don't think this would be a issue in a garage or shop. Second: creosote buildup. A thin layer of creosote will burn off in stovepipe with hot enough fires, this is common and usually happens without being noticed. A problem arises because Magic Heat is so efficient at reclaiming heat that it can stop this process leading to dangerously high creosote buildup. I remedy this by burning hot intense fires and cleaning my stovepipe more frequently. Third: the cleaning knob can become stuck requiring disassembly and messy cleaning unless it is used religiously. This is especially true with slow smoldering fires and burning pine. With hot intense fires this much less of a problem. I remedied the noise problem by adding this brushless speed controller. https://www.amazon.com/Model-KBNH-13BV-Control-Shaded-Motors/dp/B07B4MNF84 It fit nicely inside the wiring box but required a hole to be drilled in the back. Pros: 1/3 less wood! Cons: Loud Creosote buildup Remember to keep tubes cleaned If you love your old woodstove and don't want to spent thousands on a newer more efficient model this may be a viable solution. ... show more

  • It adds instant heat as soon as you have fire
Style: Wood Size: 8"
Fan is on a switch that never shuts off so if fire goes out and I’m away it continues to run until it’s manually shut of need a heat sensor to shut it down when it’s cold it does produce a ton of heat that is normally lost up the chimney that I like a lot was easily put up in just a few minutes overall I would definitely do again I think I’m gona get a temp switch and add it to fan ... show more
