It wasn't supposed to light up the first night after I put it outside on a gloomy day. But, it did light up, and it looks great, and the shadows it generates look great. My only complaints are: (1) The metal is very thin, like an aluminum soda pop can, so it bends very easily. It arrived slightly dented, but I was able to un-dent it by putting my hand inside the lantern and pushing it outward, being careful not to break any of the fine detail. (2) It's made of cheap metal, not copper. It is painted with copper paint, and I can smell the paint. Nonetheless, it is a good-looking lantern.

You know, in the last 20 years, we have had an explosion of a rather large and wonderful variety of form and function with regard to lighting. Incredibly efficient and diverse LED lighting, along with a similarly well functional implementation of solar charged batteries, these have now given us so many new options and opportunities to try new things, and the result, with a number of misses, have brought quite a few bangers about along the way. All at relatively prudent pricing, as well. This is one. It's overall, as described. Simple. Fairly cheap. The design and implementation, all told, is absolutely wonderful. A little solar charger, panel and battery. A little warm led light, and a simple, yet wonderful metal punch shell, offering such a beautiful array of atmosphere and patterns. These are not meant to light a room, but for use as a decorative light in a corner, or adding light and warmth to a porch, garden, etc... Even a tabletop lamp for outdoor dining, I mean, absolutely lovely! This one is a winner all day long. If I had a restaurant with outdoor tables, I'd get enough for each and extra for back-up. Love it!

This lantern is so pretty! I set it outdoors in mid-afternoon, and despite the sky being a bit cloudy it lit up nice and strong when the sky darkened, and was still lit in the morning just before sunup! The design is just as pretty as in the photo. I want to find a place to hang it up so I can see the lights from the bottom reflect on the ground. The hummers and flowers are less defined on my patio, but this is likely because it is much farther away from the ground than in the photos here. The lantern is larger and lighter than I expected, and feels well put together. Thinking about getting one for my friend's birthday. Definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to make their outdoor space a little more attractive, with no work involved.

This lantern has a nice design but the materials it is made with make it seem like a less expensive copy of other beautiful lanterns but without the price drop. Visually, it is really attractive. The metal is a gold color but painted over with a pleasing metallic copper, however, the paint seems very thin. (I tried to show this in the pictures.) The hummingbird design is great but mine has several dents from when the pattern was stamped out. (It was hard to get this to show well but I did include it in the pictures.) The solar light seems underpowered to be able to cast the shadows that would make this lantern really special. (I also tried to show this in a picture by holding the lantern about 5 feet high and two feet from a wall in a completely dark room.) I was excited to get this and wanted to like it but it just didn't rise to my expectations.
