Description

Great-looking with great performance, the Huffy Tekton is ready for you and the call of the wild. It has a lightweight aluminum hardtail frame, 21 speeds with an all-SHIMANO drivetrain for seamless, twist shifting, and oversized tires to maximize traction. The matte acid green finish with a clear gloss overcoat has a remarkable, lasting look. This bike arrives 90% assembled with all the tools you need for fast, easy assembly. Just follow the simple, step- by-step instructions; our product manual guides you through every step. The 24-inch model is ideal for ages 12-19 and a rider height of 58-70 inches. The lightweight aluminum hardtail frame is backed by our limited 10-year frame warranty (see owner's manual for details). Much lighter than steel, aluminum provides more rolling momentum so it's easier to pedal for speed and acceleration. With the strength of aluminum, the frame efficiently transfers energy to the drivetrain - ideal for climbing and responsive handling. Unlike steel, aluminum is corrosion-resistant so it keeps its original aluminum look, regardless of the weather. An all-SHIMANO drivetrain, the SHIMANO Revoshift and SHIMANO TY-30 indexed rear derailleur, is crafted to deliver 21 speeds with seamless, smooth twist shifting. Accelerate, climb hills or glide down slopes. With 21 speeds, you have on-demand shifting for optimal performance. The removable rear derailleur guard protects the gears from damage. The Kolo 3200 front suspension fork helps to absorb any bumpy surprises, and provides the proper amount of response on any terrain. The front-load stem with forged crown provides extra strength for riding comfort. Oversized tires maximize traction in wet or dry conditions, especially handy for climbs and descents and for control in muddy or rocky areas. Lightweight alloy linear pull brakes are specifically designed with the precision-machined alloy wheel rims for exceptional brake pad contact and smooth, stopping power. The ATB saddle, with premium padding, has stitched sides for lasting comfort. An alloy quick release enables easy seat height adjustment. The slight-rise handlebar enables upright riding to minimize back and shoulder strain. ATB-type resin pedals on the 3-piece Kolo crank have a good, responsive feel. Krayton grips remain comfortable to the touch. Kickstand included. The Huffy Tekton has the look, the specs, and the performance you expect when you’re ready to explore the call of the wild. • Good bike to have
Color: Gloss Nickel Size: 26-inch 20-inch
This review is for the Huffy Hardtail Mountain Trail Bike - 26 inch wheels/20 inch frame, Gloss Nickel. I was not much of a biker and have not rode a bike in ten years. When looking for a "bike", was not sure what to get or what to look for when purchasing online (i.e. can't try it out before purchasing). I picked this model mainly because of the low cost ($275.00) and good reviews. Next, I was not even sure how to pick the frame size or wheel size. After some internet reading, the 20-inch frame size was the best option for my 5'10 height and chose the 26-inch wheel size (seemed proportional to the 20-inch frame). My main objective was "joy" riding and not really doing any biking on mountains or off-road biking. The bike came in new - very little assembly. Only had to install the front tire and the handle bar assembly. The packaging include a multi-purpose tool (wrench) and hex wrenches to assembly the bike. Once the bike was assembled, I had two issues: 1. The rubber brake pads were slightly rubbing against the rim. I had to play around with it a bit to adjust the brakes. Was able to adjust them where they were perfect. 2. Now, the hard part. The front derailleur was not working correctly. I could not shift into some of the gears and could also hear slight clicking/tapping when peddling. Very long story short, I had to watch many videos on YouTube on how to adjust the derailleur (i.e. low/high limits, cable tension..etc). Also, without a bike stand to hold up the bike, this becomes a tedious effort. For those of you who have had to do this, you know the pain. So, after many many hours of adjusting the limits and cable tension, got it to where it is 99% better when using the gear shifters (from and back). The bike size fits me perfect. No issues with comfort in riding. I can easily adjust the seat height and handle bars for a better fit. Overall, this is a decent mountain bike for what I need it for. Not looking for anything special. I do enjoy riding it and happy with the purchase. If you are looking for a bike for cruising or joy riding, then a mountain bike is not for you. (mainly because of the treads on the wheels). Couple items to know about: 1. Change out the bike seat ASAP. Too hard and causes pain/rash within 15min of riding. 2. If you remove the front derailleur tension cable, make sure you put it back on the correct way or else the gear lever will not work. It will feel tight and you will not be able to shift any gear. I learned this the hard way after I spent about three hours trying to figure out why I could not shift the gear lever. Finally, I realized my very simple mistake. When you wrap the tension cable around the locking nut, you need to loop it in a clockwise motion, not counter clockwise. - lesson learned. (see attached picture). ... show more

  • Mountain Bike
Color: Gloss Nickel Size: 26-inch 20-inch
The Huffy Hardtail Mountain Trail Bike is a budget-friendly, entry-level bike ideal for casual riders. It features a lightweight steel or aluminum frame, front suspension for basic shock absorption, and a 21-speed gear system for flexibility on different terrains. Depending on the model, it may come with disc or v-brakes. Overall, it’s a good choice for light trail riding and commuting but lacks the high-end performance for more intense trails. ... show more

  • Son love his new bike
Color: Gloss Nickel Size: 26-inch 20-inch
My adult son doesn't drive at the moment, so transportation was needed. I was wary of buying a bike online, but he lives in a different state and this was going to be a gift, so I figured the Huffy name was a good one. Apparently, I was right. He tells me he has already put several hundred miles on the bike & it's working great. He said it wasn't hard to assemble & with all the extra things (lights, helmet, gloves, cellphone holder... etc.) I got for him, he's able to use this bike to get to work and anywhere else in the small town he lives in. ... show more

  • Not sure it qualifies as a bike.
Color: Gloss Nickel Size: 26-inch 20-inch
Pedal plastic cracked after a single 3mile weekend family bike ride. Next ride seat stopped holding its position even though tightened to extents the ridges that normally hold it together are now stripped. While this is a budget bike It shouldn't fall apart just riding around the neighborhood, at this point it doesn't have all the functioning parts left to call it a bike. ... show more

  • Seems like a great bike for the money.
Color: Gloss Nickel Size: 26-inch 20-inch
Don't expect it to compete with the $3,000 bikes from the bike stores. It's heavy but seems to be strong. So far I'm very happy with it. The welds are beautiful. Adjusting the brakes was a little tedious. I was having trouble getting them centered so they didn't rub on one side of the wheel or the other. I eventually got them after adjusting them, riding it for a while, adjusting again, riding, adjusting.... ... show more

  • You get what you pay for, Same for this bike. It's cheap, needs work
Color: Ocean Blue Gloss Size: 26 Inch Wheels/17 Inch Frame
Where do I begin? Positives: Cheap, the frame is pretty nice, Negatives: You will need Loctite, Skewers, A new seat and learn how to adjust the Shimano The front end of the bike doesn't seem as stable as it should be, which is a running theme with the bike. The bulk of the money went into the frame. You're basically paying for the frame with the cheapest parts possible attached. Loctite or using Skewers should correct this. I will be installing some soon I've mentioned Loctite because the bolts shake loose fairly easily. They will shake loose on you if you're doing off-road biking. This includes the Front wheel. The Stem. The handlebars and seat. My test ride was 12 miles, against the wind, that is when I realized the Shimano was not even close to being adjusted properly. The chain will jump off, you'll get stuck in certain gears. When you get this bike, take it for VERY short rides and adjust the Shimano. There's a good video of how to do it on Youtube by Art's Cyclery. You'll probably want to replace almost everything on the bike if you want to ride this seriously. I thought, because I wasn't cycling, I didn't need to go expensive. I just wanted casual 20 mile bike rides but now I have to replace everything anyway. So, if you really want to ride a bicycle. Go expensive or go cheap and expect to upgrade a lot of parts. Saddles are very personal, They're kind of like pants or shoes, you need the right fit. For me, Average height, bulky Athletic build, The seat destroyed me. Do not commit to a long ride until you test it out. You'll probably end up replacing it. In, short. Needs work, cheap but all of the parts are there. You can upgrade them and learn how to put together your own bike. You will need to if you plan on riding with any frequency. ... show more
