I have three children and bought these for them for Christmas. 1 boy and 2 girls, so the colors worked out perfect. They absolutely love them! They do take 4 AAA batteries, and my kids are terrible at leaving them on because of the power button being kind of inconspicuous. We just got them today so i cannot answer on battery life but they were a source of fun for me and my son. They were very clear and pretty easy to use. My son changed the channel and then i had to too.

I brought these on vacation so my kids could go around the hotel by themselves. While the range is good, we all had quite a hard time making out what anyone was saying. They are good if you need just in case of urgency to get an idea where someone is, but not great for conversations

He wanted some walkies, we have 3 children so bought these, my daughter was 8 (0.4 miles) blocks away at the store with my husband. It was a little staticky at the store, but they could still talk to each other. They had a lot of fun with them tonight. So the range is really good.
