  • A few months old, and firing on all cylinders... Our gamble paid off...
Printers are a tough investment, but this one has been an unfaltering addition to my school work for months. It sits on an elevated rolling laptop stand, my MacBook on top of that (separated by a piece of non-slip drawer/cabinet liner that prevents scrapes and sliding), and it's as sturdy as a rock. A couple of things to note upfront: It's louder than anticipated. You'll hear it from the living room during wireless printing, which is noticeable at first, but you adjust. It's not the speediest. It's perfectly fine for my personal and family printing needs (a few pages to a dozen or two for study material or odd jobs). For photo output, it's sharp but not "masterclass"—definitely better photo printers exist. However, for black and white or grayscale, it delivers. Color printing is also sharp and doesn't bleed, with reasonable (though not lightning-fast) speed. If outright speed is your priority, look elsewhere. ### Wireless Connectivity I use a Mac, a Pi 5, and Windows 11 Pro with WSL2. They all connect perfectly with zero issues on my home network. It even seamlessly switched from my old ASUS Wifi 6 router to our new Amazon Eero system. I can print from anywhere on the network, even from my Pi across SSH. This printer delivers wonderfully on the wireless front. ### Ink It claimed 2 years of ink, and so far, it's mostly full. I print a fair amount, mostly in grayscale or black, but color charts for networking are sharp and readable. The kids and wife hit this thing all day, and it never gives them issues—something I've never been able to say about a wireless printer before. While I'm not typically an HP fan, this device has been a rockstar from Day 1. ### Setup & Durability Loading the ink and setting it up was fast, easy, and uneventful. My hardest job was walking to the trash can to dispose of the funky adapter from the print heads! I've had zero dried ink or printhead issues; it calibrated perfectly the first time and prints everything with precision. Its wireless connectivity, durability, ease of setup and use, and minimal vibrations are all well-balanced, providing a full, uneventful printer that does exactly what it's supposed to, when it's supposed to. This holds true across multiple operating systems and even after switching networks. My wife thought the cost was worth the gamble compared to other alternatives, and she was right. Zero issues with this printer. If this review remains unedited, know that I'm still having a completely happy, issue-free experience. I would absolutely buy another if needed for a college dorm or similar. ... show more

  • Worth the money!
I was able to install it myself. I am not very teckie. The instructions were easy to follow. The prints are just the way you will like them. I am happy with my purchase. I like the why the ink comes in bottles and you can see where you are running low.

  • HP = Hardly Prints
If I could give it no stars I would. This printer is absolute garbage. I am so sick of HP. I can hardly breathe. HP = hardly prints. WHEN it works, it’s fine. But no exaggeration, almost every time I go to use it I have to reset it. I have updated all the drivers, there are no errors on the printer, it has a full strength, connection, and there is just absolutely no excuse for its primary and most basic function to be so fickle from used to use. I am so angry at the amount of money that I have thrown at some of these printers, and this is the final straw, I have every intention of going and smashing it out in my driveway and buying a canon. This experience has been consistent with other HP printers as well, not just a smart tank. I truly believe that this one would be different. ... show more

  • Just Opened Up and Printer Already Isn't Working
UPDATE: I just received the same exact printer from Best Buy this time and have updated my rating as well according to a functioning unit. Thankfully this one did not have firmware issues however it did have ink cartridge issues.....until by the grace of god I was able to fix it. I also had a ton of trouble trying to connect to Wifi until I was able to make the printer functional and remembered what I needed to hit on the printer to have the instructions printed for me on how to setup the wifi, because for whatever reason this isn't listed on the setup manual. So this was the easiest, at least for me, took literally less than 2 minutes.... before you get started make sure you download the HP Smart App. 1. Make sure your phone is connected to your wifi 2. Press and hold the Information button for 3 seconds until all buttons are lit, then hit and hold Wi-fi and Cancel (red X) button at the same time for 3 seconds. The Power button will blink for a few seconds and then the printer will be in Setup Mode. (Wifi button will continue to blink until its connected to Wifi) 3. Once you're in setup mode, open the HP Smart App, click on add printer, mine was in the top right corner of a little printer icon. Click on Add New Printer, (was first/top choice on my phone) and then it will take you through the process. Very self explanatory. There's 2 other options that the printer printed but I'll save you the time. Yours can print it too, by holding down the Wifi and Information button down at the same time. It should print a 2 page instruction on how to connect your printer to the Wifi. If it doesn't start printing, try again. Hope that helps the ones that had a lot of trouble setting up Wifi as even I did, had I not known this trick from my previous HP printer I'd still not be connected to the internet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This printer just got delivered to me maybe an hour ago. I plugged it in and immediately all lights started blinking including the information screen. The printer is fully unresponsive, anytime i push the power button it blinks then turns everything back on and lights yet again keep flashing. My old HP suddenly decided to have trouble with the ink cartridge after coming back from vacation, mind you no one has touched it, in fact the printer started having troubles after cancelling my Instant ink as I wasn't getting much use out of paying for it, pretty ironic....Given most of the reviews of this printer was positive and it came overnight I gave it a shot...I'm currently on chat with support having yet to find a solution to even get the printer to turn on normally. Haven't even been able to install the ink cartridges as it's not even moving into replace position. We are currently on solution #5 and the printer is still just blinking with all lights. Not sure if this is an Amazon issue or an HP issue, but I'm more than likely going to return this. I really wanted this printer to work but it looks like it's going back to where it came from. ... show more

  • Great printer and good price
Great printer! Easy to hook up and easy to fill the ink up and start printing! It comes with two years of ink. I really happy with that. Now I don't have to wait to print things I need to print because I don't have to worry about buying more ink. Happy with this printer
