Great print quality!

I have had this printer now for over a year, and the print quality is still the same as when I purchased it. For such an inexpensive printer, I honestly didn't expect it to last this long, but it works perfectly. It handles cardstock (which is why I purchased it) flawlessly. It is so hard to find a printer that will actually pull the cardstock through straight and not jam. The only thing I wish it had was a scanner, but, for the price, it is worth getting a separate scanner/copier.

Good for everyday printing...perhaps not for photos...but beware there is a known flaw

I bought this printer as a replacement for one of the same model that stopped working properly. I have only had HP printers since I had my first computer. I am a person that does not like change so I tend to look for a printer as much like the one it is replacing as possible. That may change when it is time to replace this printer as, the reason I bought this from Amazon was the one I was replacing stopped working prematurely and from what I have learned it is a common issue with this model and some others in the 6000 series. You may ask why I would replace a printer with the same kind if I knew there are problems with the model in question. The reason is I had just bought new ink for the one that stopped working properly and my hope was to not waste the money spent on that ink. If not for the issue that seems to be common with this model (the print head is known to go bad) this would be a no brainer to recommend. It prints with good quality and automatically prints on both sides of the paper without the need to flip in manually. The dual-sided printing is the standout feature with this printer for me. I have never used it to print wirelessy. If you are printing photos that you want to frame or have as keepsakes then you may want to get something else but for everyday print jobs it's a nice printer....if not for the possibility of the print head going bad prematurely.

Stays Online With Google Cloud Print - Which is pointless if it won't print.

This printer has great print quality, and it prints both sides of the page. It is low profile, with the paper tray on the front, so I can put it under a low shelf. It also has four ink cartridges, so I only have to replace the colors that run out. Installation was straightforward. HP has quite a bit of bloatware, which can be declined. The basic Windows drivers are all that's needed to run it. No problem setting it up to work with Google Cloud Print. I have not used the wireless feature, but it works great as a network printer plugged into the network. It doesn't have to attach to an always-on PC to use as a remote printer, including Google Cloud Print. Update: This has turned out to be a terrible printer. It has become very flaky, It keeps reporting print head problems. The ink life is very short, and it costs over $100.00 to re-ink it with high capacity cartridges. It works very poorly with more affordable recycled or refilled cartridges. Now, with four full ink cartridges, I just get a sequential flashing pattern on the four ink status lights, and it won't print at all. This product is a complete waste of money, and continues to be a money pit long after the initial purchase. In addition to being a waste of money, it is a waste of environmental resources. I'm not even an environmentalist, but I have to draw the line at this piece of junk. I wish I could charge Hewlett-Packard to come and remove this garbage from my home. Instead, I'll have to pay to dispose of it. This thing is a complete waste in every possible sense of the word. Messrs. Hewlett and Packard ought to be spinning in their graves right about now. I would say run, don't walk away from this product, and maybe consider a printer manufacturer that uses a different marketing model for their printers and supplies.

I got my printer today, took it out of the box, plugged it in and went to set it up. I am a single women with very low tech skills so I alway get nervous setting up anything technology related. I followed the instructions provided to turn it on, put in paper, select the paper direction. Not many of the instruction were on the paper provided. Next to set up the wifi/wireless printer it had me go to a webpage and I followed the instructions and I quickly started to get flustered because it continued to tell me it was not connecting I had done everything it told me to do. THEN MAGICALLY, my printer started printing a page about 15 minutes after it had been turned on and had been sitting there. I have no clue how it printed and if it is normal that this pages prints but I attached the page because following these instructions was how I got the printer to print. The instructions are for the phone to use your wife to connect to the printer so I did it on my Iphone 6 and tried to print a document and it totally printed. I repeated the steps on my mac the same way as with the phone going to my wifi, selecting the print putting in the passcode and then printed and again it worked. What I figured out is that in order to print wirelessly each time you want to print you have to go to your phone or computer wifi setting select the printer then go back to what you want to print and it will then see the printer as an option and will print for you. It did not see the printer as a printing option until I went to wifi and selected it. I am very happy I figured it out and this paper totally saved me.

Died after 6 months

The printer worked well for roughly 6 months. The print quality was good, crisp black and good color. The wireless/wired network setup is pretty straight forward. However with only 6 months use, the print head failed, and the entire printer had to be replaced (HP replaced it under warranty). This is the third HP printer I've had to replace with less than a year of use(the others were Officejet 4630's). I don't print much, maybe 10-15 pages in a week.

Easy to use, Wireless Direct feature was a godsend!

Holy smokes, this thing rocks. I bought it for work (IT guy) because someone wanted to be able to print things for clients from their iPad at remote offices. The problem was that we could only use the AirPrint feature in our particular setup, and our remote locations do not have WiFi, and our security setup prevented other sorts of printers and iPad apps from being used. Enter the HP Officejet Pro 6230 - and HP's Wireless Direct. After reading what it was capable of (and for only $80! I might get one for my own home use!), I bought one to try out. The day it came, I took it out of the box, set it up, and plugged it in. I pressed the Wireless Direct button (first time pressing it prints a usage guide, subsequent times do not). On my iPad, I went into my settings and selected the WiFi network that the printer began broadcasting. It connected right away. I went to print a photo. I hit print, selected my printer, and tapped "Print" and waited. After like 2 seconds, the printer came to life and started printing. Seriously, I love this thing. Press the button, connect to the printer, print your stuff. Super easy. Highly recommended. I want ten of them just to have them.
