  • Good value printer Good value printer
Style: Printer Only
This printer is a royal pain in the bum to set up, for no reason BUT maybe it's not HP's fault. I stupidly, as a person who expected technology to bend to my will because it's been my job all my life, tried to set this up via WPS. My Comcast gateway's WPS is evidently garbage, or something. Here's some advice: Don't even try it. Follow the tiny instruction sheet that comes with it and download the HP Smart Start app. It takes maybe 2 minutes max. Print quality is pretty decent as is the scanner, and there are easy iOS/Droid apps to use for all the settings, as well as the Smart Ink service. Ink installtion is easy. My only complaints are probably my own fault - this has a USB port but it's one of those 10 year old USBs you'd find on an external DVD writer - the practically hexagonal ones. And it doesn't come with the USB cable, just a power cable. No ethernet port either and as advertised, no on screen display beyond the tiny LCD indicators. At the price I paid though, even at the normal price, it's a fine printer for home use, for those who aren't really printing all the time (it's 2019 so...) It's also very compact and low profile, easy to move around. ... show more

  • I like it. I would recommend it to my fellow college student
Style: Printer Only
This printer deserves a well written comment. Saying is great would be.... too vague. I will say as much as possible with the least amount of words. 1) value is great/for college student or people who like to save or on a budget 2) the inks are cheap and you know... hp is not the only ink seller so u know what I mean... look around you will find even better deal on ink 3) It has a nice scanner 4) it has an app so that you can view the statue of the printer there 5) unfortunately, you can use your scanner using the app so you kinda app dependent smtmes 6) as I said, there is a lot of app dependency. So you need the app to set it up for the first time. So if you’re good with technology, it will not bother you but if you are not good... better by ankther printer (sorry) 7) You can’t just put a block of paper or even half a block of paper in it... the paper holder is kinda small so if you print a lot, let’s say you need to be awaere of that 8) because there is a lot of app and web dependency here, smtimes, it can act out a little... like mine, I feel like I did smtg in the app which caused it (printer) to print that ink calibration page everytime I accidentally unplogged the printer. And it is kinda ennoying because I am wasting ink. My husband tried to fix it so we’ll see if it does that again in the future. 5) one last thing, the app allows you to see what you are scanning like a preview and save it in a file on cloud, or dropbox or wherever you want. That’s pretty cool in my opinion. But it can be annoying if you just wanna scan and go... let’s say it all depends on the circumstances. So yeah... in all, I really like this printer. The price is right and it does the job pretty well. ... show more

  • Stressful setting it up
Style: Printer Only
Once I got the printer working, it's great! I definitely feel like the price is a steal! The bad part for me was the lack of instructions. I'm not tech savvy so installing the printer was a hassle and customer service was of no help. I ended up figuring it out on my own. 1st off, I have a Toshiba laptop using Windows Vista. When you go on the website (123.hp.com) to download the software, it was saying that it doesn't support Windows Vista. If anyone has had this problem, here's how I was able to do it. Go to: Support.hp.com>software and drivers>Printer>Enter printer name>Driver Product Installation Software Once I downloaded the software, I went to Microsoft Word to print out a letter and it printed. Customer service was telling me I had to upgrade a new OS system or buy a new laptop. Smh horrible advice! It took me a few hours to figure it out (as I said, I'm not tech savvy) but I did. So if you go to 123.hp.com and you get the "we're sorry" message. Try the steps I've included above. Another reason I rated this a 4 is because, every time I turn the printer on, it prints out the testing paper. This is wasting my ink. Once I complete the initial setup and testing, that should be it! It shouldn't keep printing out the testing paper every time I turn it on. I guess this is another issue I'll have to figure out. ... show more

  • So far so good! So far so good!
Style: Printer Only
This is the FIRST printer I have ever bought and set up. I was looking around for a simple, all in one printer I could use for work docs and sheet music when I stumbled upon this one for $20 bucks! I was worried that it was going to be kind of junky but I figured hey whatever it's just $20. BUT, this printer so far isn't junky at all! I have only just started using it, but so far it's fantastic! The ink cartridges gave me no problem and clicked right into the little slots without any trouble. The setup wasn't too bad. I tend to get extremely frustrated VERY quickly when setting up electronics. But this being my first time setting up a printer, it really wasn't all that bad. I used the WiFi direct option, because it seemed to be the easiest, and went on HPs website to get a guided driver installation. Only took about 10 minutes! They also offer a free 2 month trial of instant ink at the end of setup. I didn't take advantage if this because I plan on using this printer lightly and most likely using only black ink. Like I said, work docs, sheet music, and the occasional return shipping label. So far, this printer is perfect for me and I'm very satisfied! I will definitely update with how long the temp cartridges last, and if anything goes awry. ... show more

  • Easy to setup and use
Style: Printer Only
Just took delivery on my printer and was up and running in next to no time. Setup is simple using the documentation provided. I setup up the printer using the HP Smart app that I downloaded to my cell phone. In order to connect, the cellphone and printer have to both be on the same WiFi network (makes a difference if you have both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) networks and have difficulty connecting to the printer. Connected my Windows 10 laptop as well using the HP Smart app from the Windows Store. Setup downloads the drivers and sets up the printer. In the box along with the printer were starter cartridges in black and color. Signed up for the instant ink program during setup and can see that my refill cartridges are set to be shipped tomorrow. Great value for this price. Will update after using it for a while. Installing the cartridges is easy and the instructions are simple to follow; color cartridge on the left, black cartridge on the right. Once the cartridges are installed, 2 documents are printed; 1 in portrait and the other in landscape. Both prints are in color and count against your quota (if you signed up for instant ink). Signing up for instant ink provides 4 months of free printing at 300 pages per month irrespective of the plan selected. ... show more

  • Do not buy this
Style: Printer Only
UPDATE : THE WIRELESS RADIO STILL BROADCASTS EVEN WHEN WIRELESS BUTTON IS SWITCHED TO OFF. ONLY POWERING OFF THE PRINTER STOPS THE WIRELESS RADIO BROADCAST- FIRST 2 YEARS I OWNED IT, IT DID NOT DO THIS. I HAVE HIGH END RF DETECTION EQUIPMENT. SUDDENLY, IT BEGAN TO BROADCAST IT'S WIRELESS RF SIGNAL JUST BEING TURNED ON, WITH THE WWIRELESS RADIO SWITCHED OFF. ABSOLUTE DECEPTIVE GARBAGE . 2ND HP PRINTER IVE BOUGHT IN 6 YEARS AND BOTH WERE FRICKEN TRASH. ORIGINAL POST: This printer is the worst one i have owned to date, having had 5 printers before since 2001. print quality is horrible. it is always out of line no amount of cleaning/ alignment has fixed it it runs through ink way faster than advertised ink is moderately priced, not cheap, not too expensive, but it is pricy. do not expect to print photos has a real issue with settingup with ethernet only, i am against have wireless signals coarsing through my house, so i bought this because of ethernet. while it is possible, it is not easy at all to make this thing work on ethernet only on your network. HP programs in the software a bunch of features that become unavailable without wireless connectivity. (this is a sign of the times, encroachment on freedom of choice under the guise of "green" or "smart" and hassle free technology.) a miracle i got the printer to stay available to the network, it is set by default to become unavailable after 2 hrs of idle times when not connected to wifi. somehow i got it to be always available. hp support is hit and miss. photos printing constantly thinks it's out of paper, paper detection of paper in port is poor quality. got this as a black friday deal for 20.00. not worth 10 for all the precious time of mine it has wasted steer clear of this . good as a hand me down in a pinch if a friend no longer needs it and is willing to give it away, thats about all. ... show more

  • Instant Ink is a fantastic concept
Style: Printer Only
This printer is great! I am going to do some math since most of the negative comments are in regards to ink refill prices. I paid $20 for the printer, and received a $5 HP Instant Ink voucher. So, there was very little up front cost, (and it came with a black and color ink cartridge). The whole concept behind Instant Ink makes me like this printer even more. FIRST OF ALL, your first four months are FREE with Instant Ink, which means you get free ink to print up to 300 pages every month. I am planning on printing a TON of pictures of my kids over the next four months- and I won't pay for any ink. (And I can print photos directly from my phone)! After that, you pick the plan that works best for you- if you only print occasionally, the is a ZERO COST plan that allows you to print 15 pages a month. You do have to pay for your ink in this plan, but you get it at 50% off. There are 50 page plans for $2.99, 100 page plans for $4.99, etc. The printer "tells" HP when you need more ink, and it is delivered to you- all automatically. You can also downgrade/upgrade/cancel at any time. So, as long as I pay the monthly fee of whatever plan I choose, (I am going with the $2.99 option), I never have to pay for ink again, and it will ship to me when I am low without me doing anything. So great. The printer I am ditching was an Epson that had four ink cartridges that were $13/each. I spent about $100/year on ink with the Epson printer. After my free Instant Ink trial for four months, and the $5 HP Voucher I got, I'll only spend $36/year on ink. Love it! ... show more

  • Very mixed feelings/review but working OK for now. HP can do better.
Style: Printer Only
My review for the HP 2622 printer is very mixed, due to various complications/issues. First off, I refuse to use anything "wireless" due to privacy concerns in this day of all-too-frequent "hacking"/privacy violation. So it would help if HP would clarify in its ads and product descriptions just WHAT is required for their printers; i.e., will they work without any connection to any router or wireless system? If this printer had not been so low priced, I would never have bought it, assuming like other HP printers I have that the printer would not work without a Net connection. Second, I downloaded the *driver only* from HP's site, actually dreading the hassles I no doubt would experience in trying to install and make the printer work (based on prior traumatic experiences with HP products where they refuse to update drivers as computer systems are updated; I already have an HP printer but it won't work with a newer 64-bit machine). However, as it turned out, I succeeded in installing the printer driver on an older Vista machine and managed to get it to work. :D BUT: The paper tray on this machine is an annoying aggravation! It took nearly an hour, and not without first consulting online as to HOW to get the paper tray to work! It should not be necessary to consult pictures and text as to how to make a printer paper tray work, but that was what was required before I got this thing to function! Next, the software kept telling me there was some sort of problem when I installed the same software driver name/number file in 64-bit format on a newer Net-connected machine. I suppose the software was "confused" because I only wanted to use it as a USB-connected device, and NOT as a wired or wireless machine; it apparently wanted/expected to get online and "do something"... But my goal was to keep the printer/HP software OFF line for privacy purposes. Finally managed to get this printer to work on my Net-connected machine by disabling the Print Spooler Service and keeping the printer powered off during the times I'm online; also wrote firewall rules to block it from going on line. These extraordinary precautions should not be necessary. Just provide a printer that works with USB WITHOUT all the Net-connected nonsense, and WITHOUT the "phone home" privacy issues, please, HP! Bottom line: It produces a fine printout, but there are things HP could do to make it a better experience. :) As for the quality of the printouts, they are actually very nice. Am using the ink cartridges that came with the printer, but I realize they'll run out of ink very quickly. Will seek a source for cheaper ink since HP ink is very costly. Also, since the printer is a cheap plastic device, it makes a LOT of racket that will make you cringe while it is printing. HP should find a way to provide a reasonably priced printer that is made of something besides cheap plastic and will run WITHOUT INTERNET interference. A company as old and respected as HP can do better than this. ... show more
