    • Horse drugs in a lick! Makes farrier work a breeze (or less of an ordeal)
This is a tub of hardened molasses (or some such). You can hold it out for your horse/mule to distract them. They will lick it (if you're lucky) or try to bite it apart (annoying). We use these for horses/mules who can be difficult for the farrier. Licking (or attempting to bite it apart) this product nicely distracts the horse/mule and makes it easier for the farrier to work. It really is a great invention! Note: the lick comes in 3 flavors. Once I tried to order one of each flavor but ended up getting 3 garlic flavor. Surprisingly, the horses/mules still loved the garlic flavor! It seems that there is so much sugar in these that the flavor is irrelevant. ... show more

    • Great distraction item
This works really good for distraction when you are trying to do something like have shoes put on your horse or trims and I also used it when my vet was cleaning my horses sheath so that he did not have to have a sedative. The downside is to not wear your good clothes you were going to have it all over you because the horses love it so much their slobs . As a farrier I used to work on a horse that was very old and he had some joint issues and he always gave us a hard time on this particular foot and he didn't hold still good and he kept jerking his leg away and he couldn't pick it up high. Eventually they got this mini licks and used that while I worked on his feet and I couldn't believe how good he stood. He was so old that he died recently but he enjoyed his lick it thing. So this is why I bought one for my own use when I came across more horses that needed to be distracted ... show more

My vet recommended thieve for my newly adopted mustang who had an eye injury to keep her busy while I apply eye ointment. She loves them and lets me do whatever while licking away!

I picked this to expedite some training. When I find a particularly difficult subject for a horse or pony to accept, I add this in once they understand what I am looking for and are no longer displaying unwanted behaviors. Seems to really help break a few mental barriers when there's a positive to something they are very skeptical about. I tried this and the mint. The original by far has been the biggest hit. I also like that I just hold the tub as I allow them to lick avoiding some of the mentality that they are taking a resource from me as with a regular treat fed from the hand could be. ... show more

    • Amazing Distraction!
This stuff is amazing! No horse turns their nose up to this, and we call it "The Lickey" because we use it for horses that are acting up or getting fidgety during farrier-y, light medical procedures, and sometimes just a little laugh when we're bored in the barn and want to give the horses a treat. We'll say "Go get The Lickey" when we need it. I can't recommend this product enough if you need to distract your horse or you just want a treat and want to watch your horse go bananas over this stuff. I freeze it so they can't bite into it or get too much at one time. They still love it just as much when it's frozen. Seriously, buy The Lickey. You won't regret it. ... show more

When it arrived it was open inside the shipping package and completely dried out and solid so I ordered a replacement and unfortunately it arrived in the same condition.
