    • Countertop-sized and quiet
I am fairly familiar with dehydrators. I've had them for years, and currently have a larger one that I run in the garage at the end of the growing season when there's a lot to process. I thought it would be nice to have a small, countertop version that I could use in the winter, so I got this one. The good things: it has a very small footprint, only about the size of a piece of paper. It's quiet, and you can run it in the kitchen without it disturbing you. I like the display and the option to change the temperature and time. It has 6 trays, they stack easily, and they can go in the dishwasher. The not-so-great: it came with 'instructions'. There were words, but the words were often not arranged in a decipherable order. It also, fortunately, came with a recipe book, which was better done, although it appears to have been written for a different dehydrator (there are at least three different names used in the material for this dehydrator.) The plastic feels brittle and cheap. I read through the instructions as best I could, and they seemed to say that you need to run the unit through at least part of a cycle before using it for food. I did this (and washed the trays). I then started with four thin-sliced apples, something I dehydrate a lot. I only managed to get 1 1/2 apples on the six trays, as they are very small and the central chimney takes up a lot of space. This was probably good, because the apples ended up becoming hopelessly stuck to the trays. I was only able to salvage a small amount and the rest I had to chip and soak off. I washed the trays again in the dishwasher and tried again. This time I used tomatoes, another thing I dehydrate a lot. I also sprayed the trays with oil prior to adding the tomatoes. I checked and switched the order of the trays every couple of hours, and managed to avoid getting them stuck by flipping each piece over multiple times. I also boosted the temperature level to about the same temp I use for my larger dehydrator. After ten hours, it automatically went off. At this point, the tomatoes were still not dehydrated. I noticed that the ones arranged nearest to the edges of the trays were much dryer. The ones near the center just felt like I had left them out on the counter for a while. Plus, I only got enough tomatoes for a couple sandwiches. All-in-all, I'm not super impressed with this, although it does nominally work. I will probably try a few more things, but if I want dehydrated fruits & veggies, I'll probably just bite the bullet and start up the one in the garage. It's not worth it to run this for 10 hours and still need more time given the small amount you can actually make.     • Healthy snacks at home
I wanted to try to dehydrate foods. I was looking for crunchy healthy alternatives to chips and didn’t want to spend a fortune. I liked the price and size of this unit and liked the metal trays. I’ve made banana and strawberry chips so far. You’ll have to play with the time and thickness of your slices but it holds a lot and they came out great! This is a great dehydrator for its price, it’s quiet and very easy to use. I made beef jerk in 7 hrs and its was delicious. This is a my first experience with a food dehydrator. I've used this only to dehydrate apples and am very pleased. It's easy to set the timer and the temperature. I can use all the trays or just a few. Because of the square shape, it's easy to find a place for it in the pantry for storage. The charts for timing and temperature of various foods in the booklet are good and got me started. Then I made my own adjustments to time and temp to get the apple slices the way I like. ... show more

I only used it once so far, but as of now it’s working really great. I dehydrated some kohakutou candy on a low setting and it did well. I really like that there are several settings you can pick from for temperature and that it comes with an instruction manual, tongs and a cookbook. It’s also pretty quiet as well. Unfortunately, the instruction manual is a little hard to read as the English isn’t great, but you can kind of understand what they’re trying to say, for the most part. It is a bit smaller than I anticipated, it’s always hard for me to imagine exactly how big something is going to be based on measurements. It is a really nice compact dehydrator. If I get into doing this more often, I will probably end up having to get a bigger one as this one is quite small, but it is great if you need something that takes up very little counter space in both length, width, and height. The biggest complaint I have is the shelves are quite narrow. I know you don’t normally dehydrate thick pieces of anything, but even that said, it feels to me that the shelves seem quite narrow and the candy I did struggled to fit between the shelves. The only other issue I’ve had so far with it is the cord is way too short. I have it on a side table and I’m trying to run the cord to the floor and it barely reached. It would be fine if you’re plugging it to a plug nearby on a counter it’s sitting on, but if you have to go any amount of distance, this cord is not gonna cut it. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I really wanted to love this dehydrator. I like the look of it and like the trays. They are heavier than my previous dehydrator’s trays and easier to clean. But after the initial aesthetics, confusion sets in! The push buttons are very slow to respond and not as intuitive as you’d think. The manual is awful. Difficult to decipher and not very informative when it comes to operation or use. I did finally figure out it has a default setting for time and temperature so I just gave it a go. It wasn’t very successful. It will take a lot of trial and error to figure it out. Wasn’t overly loud so that was a positive. ... show more

    • Nice dehydrator
This is a really nice dehydrator. I'm trying to learn to make whole prey for my cats, and this is going to be great. you can use all the trays or as many as needed. The timer function is awesome. It comes with instructions and a recipe book.
