Disclaimer: I haven't put bees in this hive yet. Construction was relatively easy and quick. Some of the box joints were hard to fit together because the wood is dipped in wax, but it feels super secure once connected and everything lined up correctly. Just be prepared to break a bit of a sweat constructing this hive. The look is very nice and clean and it smells great! Can't wait for the bees to move in. We ended up purchasing additional frames from the seller as well to round out some extra deep frames that we're building. Shipping on this hive and the frames we purchased from the same seller was quick they were prompt to answer questions over email.

This makes for a beautiful beehive and smells wonderful while you are putting it together. Well made, but they do need to look into sending different nails to avoid splitting of wood which occurs in a few places. I used different nails in those areas that I already had on hand and they worked much better. Smaller profile nails should especially be used on the frames. It went together very easily, quite sturdy. I also used gorilla glue in addition to the nails for a stronger securement. For the money, this is a great value that includes all the parts you will need. I highly recommend.

Very well made. The dovetail joints were a perfect fit, I was worried they would be sloppy but they were perfect. I used a exterior waterproof glue and a finish nailer to assemble. On the frames I predrilled the nail holes and glued, perfect! All the parts were there and instructions are self explaining and very easy to put together. It took me 2-3 hours to put together and very enjoyable experience. I have 2 hives of bees now and they are doing great. The finish product is beautiful to look at as well. Thanks and keep up the good work, quality control is exceptional!

I like this hive, beautiful really but remember it’s not furniture. The complaints of splitting wood doesn’t have to be an issue if constructed properly. The joints are tight which is great but they’re coated in wax which is wonderful but if you do it on a cold day your in trouble. Splits for sure. Even though it was hot out and the wax was playable with a fingernail I still needed a heat gun on low, or hair dryer on high, to warm the joints then carefully tap the joints together using a spare block of wood as a buffer. Also, pre drill every nail hole or you’ll split as well. Manufacturing is decent but not perfect, it’s hard wood and will have minor splits, unfortunately I had an end panel totally split across the width, shouldn’t have gotten past quality control but I used it anyway. No time for return bees a buzz’n.

I am thrilled with the third Hoover hive I've purchased. It arrived quickly. There are no defects or splits. Wax is not overwhelming when assembling.

I received only one of two bee hive sets I ordered - so I contacted the vendor to ask about it. They immediately shipped a second bee hive set without issue!? And n fact both shipments arrived well before the anticipated arrival date. The only issue I had was splitting a couple of the wooden pieces with the nails and screws, even with pre drilled holes. Likely user error and still quite usable. Thank you for a great product and exceptional customer service!

Over all I feel the Hoover Hive is a B on a grading scale. It is a fairly nice hive but I feel the wax causes issues fitting it together. I use a knife to clean the joints up but they are still so tight that it will sometimes crack/ split the boards. It has never been bad enough for me not to be okay with using it. Also the inner cover on this one has been poorly crafted. the one board on it is actually tapered and causing a large gap. I also wish they would not cut a notch in the top cover for top ventilation. I do not to vent my hives so I have to fill it in. Another thing to consider is drilling the holes through just the first board the nail goes through to stop any splitting. This is the second one of these I have and I would probably buy it again.

I love this hive. The box is HEAVY when they deliver it, so I had my boyfriend move it for me. Assembly was easy if you're crafty at all. We put the frames together with a dot of wood glue, and an 18 gauge nail gun. As other reviewers have said, the main boxes were a bit of a beast to put together, but I appreciate it. Now, when I'm prying out my frames, I don't worry about the boxes popping apart on me. I should have put a Brad nail in each dove tail of the boxes. When I press against them with my hive tool, the pressure pulls on the boxes and I can see a small gap starting to form. Nothing the manufacturer could prevent. I absolutely adore these hives. My only gripe is I need them to make a 5 frame nuc box! I immediately ordered a second hive after having the first, and hopefully my hive will make it through winter to split in spring!
