  • Tuff Enough
Easy straight forward install. Fast shipping and solid packaging. Directions say 1.5 - 2 hrs. With 2-3 people. I installed by myself in about 2.5 hours. The rack is super sturdy when installed. The only advice I can give is to pay attention to the instructions when attaching the leg supports to the roof and make sure you are centered. I’m super ocd so I had to adjust slightly after install. Nice rack and would definitely recommend. One issue that I did encounter was the plastic window hinge caps do break when you open the window. An easy fix was just to lower the cap about 1/4” and attach with a small amount of silicone. Or you could cut the plastic to clear the support. ... show more

  • Good and bad
The product itself is very sturdy and capable. However the instructions are horrible. And I was missing half of the hardware needed to put this together I had to go to home depot to get the other half of the nuts/screws/washers and what not. Not such a big deal it's easy to find but very annoying they didn't make sure everything was in the box. But as for the lights that are mounted into the roof rack. The wires are too short to be joined together each light has about 5 inches of wire and the lights are about a foot and a half apart, the company could have easily installed 1 wire connected to both lights to make wiring it into the vehicle much easier for the customer. If I had known how poorly it was designed I was have just gotten a roof rack without lights ... show more

  • Well designed.
I just finished assembling and installing this on a 2010 JK by myself. It took about 3 hours from start to finish but I have all the right tools and am very mechanical. As others have said, some holes need to be drilled out to line up, but not many. I glanced at the instructions but they're worthless. If you know what it should like like assembled just go for it. My biggest complaint is ALL the welded on nuts were a bit crooked and had to be chased with a tap to clear the threads of obstructions, either from coating or welding, I don't know which. The combination of being welded on crooked and obstructed threads makes it seem like things are being cross threaded unless you run a chaser tap through them first. For assembly I found it easy to put a sheet of plywood on saw horses for a table so the whole thing could be worked around. While still on the table I applied some anti-slip tape (for stair treads) to the front and rear cross sections so whatever is lashed up there (for me that would be ladders and lumber) won't slide around. Lifting it atop my Jeep was done with a tractor loader with pallet forks. I had a little hardware left over but nothing significant. My hinge covers snapped right back on, then the hooks broke when the window was lifted. I just put them back on with hot melt glue that can be pried off easily enough. All in all, this thing is solid and I feel like it was a good value if you have the tools and skills to work through a few minor issues. ... show more

  • Looks great on my Jeep. Good value for the price.
The good: Once assembled, the rack is great and does exactly what I need it to do. It adds utility and looks great. It’s tightly secured and I’m confident it won’t fly off or get stolen. No need for a lock because the rear screws are not accessible without being able to open the tail lift/window. It’s made of heavy, solid metal and seems to have been treated with a protective coating. It’s heavier than expected but I think that’s a good thing. The package felt like it weighed 300lbs. Shipping was crazy fast. I received the package a week earlier than expected. The bad: I don’t mean to sound harsh but the instructions were horrendous and couldn’t be more confusing. The pictures are low quality and are presented in a non-linear order. A lego set this is not. You will need to figure this out yourself through trial and error. I had a few pieces left over at the end of assembly. Hope they weren’t important. Get a friend to help you lift it on your Jeep/Truck. Again, this thing is HEAVY. Despite instructions I the would recommend this rack. Comparable racks are listed for double the price so this is a good value. ... show more

  • Looks Great and Sturdy, Instructions are garbage
The Instructions were hot garbage on this. Required tools and sizes were all wrong. The instructions were front and back with Pictures. I have put other roof racks together so I figured it out between past knowledge and deciphering some of the pictures. The item itself is sharp. I have only had it on my Jeep for about a week but it seems very sturdy and looks sharp. I haven't hooked up the lights on it yet either so can't speak to those, but I other than the instructions I am very happy with the purchase ... show more

  • Can't use the factory hinge covers/sloppy welds.
You can't use the factory hinge covers with this rack because the back brackets stick out too far. It looks like the brackets could be reworked a little to allow enough room for the covers to be used, but I haven't had the time to mess with that yet. Also I will have to drill out several of the welded nuts on the cross members because of sloppy welding. Tried to fasten the cross members with the bolts but 4 or 5 of them have burrs in the nut from the welding. I tried to knock the burrs out with a punch but they are too thick. I will have to either drill them out and try to re-tap them (if there is enough metal left on the nut) or just get a longer bolt and separate nut to use to firm up the cross members that are missing bolts because of this. Seems like a decent product, just a little frustrated with the sloppy welds that could have been avoided. ... show more
