My 1500 sq Ft basement was very damp and smelled musty. Once I hooked up the Honeywell TPFIT50WK dehumidifier it worked very fast. The only drag is I don’t have a sink or sum pump in my basement so I have nowhere for it to drain which means I have to go down and check it twice a day because the reservoir fills up, then I have to manually empty it. However, the basement has become so much drier with no musty smell now so I only have to empty the reservoir like every 4-5 days. It’s also pretty quiet. I do recommend it and would buy it again.     • A very good way to lower the humidity
We were having a problem with high humidity in the house especially when we were not running the heat or AC. This product works very well. It can be set to turn on automatically, turns off when the bucket is full and has three fan settings. The low setting is particularly quiet for night time use. I originally considered a smaller model that was out of stock. I am glad I got the larger model as it gives more time between emptying the bucket.     • Leaking dehumidifier
The unit does not put water in the tank. It puts it on the floor. We called Honeywell but they said we would have to contact Amazon. We were trying to figure out how to do that when I got this email. The unit needs to be returned as it is defective.

We purchased this Honeywell dehumidifier for our FL condo. While located in the kitchen, it keeps the humidity under 45% throughout the entire condo. The large-capacity water tank is easy to remove and empty. We continue to be amazed at the amount of moisture it removes.

    • Web site description omits important safety warning
This arrived on my doorstep today. We bought this for our unfinished basement to replace a Kenmore that stopped working. After unpacking and getting ready to start, my wife read the safety warning that this should not be located in a room with gas appliances, such as a dryer, furnace or hot water heater. The internal fluids in the machine are a fire risk. Bottom line, go to the Honeywell website and download the documents before you buy. We re really disappointed. It is very hard to box this up again and return it, it is a 42/pound behemoth. We are senior citizens. ... show more

    • Cord too short (only 5 feet)
The power cord is too short. I would have returned it except I have anothe dehumidifier in a different room that has a cord a foot longer. So I could switch them. At the very least the specs for the unit should show the cord length. I won't be getting one of these again and will be more careful in the future to find out that information before buying. ... show more

This has been the best product. It is pulling in so much moisture. We have emptied it several times within the first week. The other dehumidifier we had with a different brand does not compare to this one.
