  • Almost a decent chair
Color: Black Mesh Style: Advanced Synchro-Tilt
UPDATE: As stated below, I am returning this chair (today) but since I still need to buy a chair, I thought I’d spend an hour or so in it so I know what to look for (and not to look for); I couldn’t make it 20 minutes in this thing! This chair is so ridiculously uncomfortable that you could probably find oil paintings of it from a medieval dungeon. No back support whatsoever, I found myself lurching forward. The lumbar “support” (mentioned below) is an absolute joke! At first I thought the chair just had a few design flaws but this entire thing needs to be scrapped. Seriously, how can you be in the business of making chairs and make a chair this bad? How are you even in business? Is that why the chair costs $300, because so many people return these heaps that you have to keep overpricing them to stay in business? If you’re going to try this chair, don’t destroy the box and be sure to keep a bottle of Advil on your desk Unlike many office chairs, this cushion is fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, there are some design issues. As another reviewer mentioned, the height adjustment doesn’t lower far enough and neither does the lumbar system. The “ergonomic” design complicates this, as the amount of lumbar support depends on the height at which it’s adjusted. The height adjustment of the arms takes more effort than it should and the action feels cheap and rigid. The biggest problem with this chair is HON itself. Thanks for the multiple pictures and musically scored video but how about some dimensions?! I had to go to HON’s website (which is poorly designed and not easy to navigate) to find the chair dimensions and they couldn’t even bother to list dimensions of the back of the chair. They give dimensions for everything EXCEPT the back; they just list chairs as “mid back” or “high back”. Let that sink in for a second, they are known primarily as an office chair company, they have numerous models, designs, etc and I couldn’t find any information on the actual height of the back of this chair. The back on this chair isn’t tall enough. This has resulted in a huge waste of time, as I would have never ordered this model. Due to the lack of this information, I am unwilling to order any more HON chairs because I don’t know what I’m getting. They don’t even show pics of a model seated in the chair with a height and weight reference. Seriously, how hard is it to put a simple measurement? At $300, this chair is a huge disappointment ... show more

  • Good product, decent value, terrible packaging
Color: Fog Mesh Style: Advanced Synchro-Tilt
Just like my momma always said I'm not good at many things, but one thing I am good at is sitting. In fact, I'm a bit of an expert in the subject and humbly consider myself something of a chair connoisseur. A seat savant. A bench boss. So let me be your sedentary stentor of seated stuff and share with you my thoughts on this functional, attractive, and moderately priced chair from HON. PROS: + Stretchy backrest provides support that conforms to your back and breathes well to help you avoid nasty back sweat. + Adjustable lumbar support gives some added structure for your lower back (could be better - see below). + Foam seat bottom is comfortable even for those of us not gifted in the posterior area (I did add an extra memory foam cushion for some added comfort). + Great adjustability across the board (seat height, back angle, recline tension that can be locked into position, seat bottom rotates in proportion to the back angle, armrest height (I added foam covers to cushion my elbows since I actually use the armrests), and lumbar support position (limited adjustment and made from hard plastic somewhat contoured like your lower back)). + Casters roll easily with no friction making it easy to move around. You may want to consider a rug or mat to protect hard flooring or change the casters out to urethane rollerblade wheels (not included). + Materials and design are attractive with different colors to suit your office environment (home or work). Easy to clean and should age relatively well, but do be careful with sharp objects around the mesh seatback material. Time will tell if the stretchy mesh will lose its springiness or if the foam seat cushion will flatten over time. CONS: - A bit pricey (but much cheaper than the chair designs that HON so blatantly borrows from). - Horrible packaging (loose pieces in the box can damage the delicate mesh seat back or scratch the finish on the plastic pieces). - Weak lumbar support (I added a foam lumbar cushion in between the lumbar support and the mesh back for added support with some cushion). - Plastic legs have been known to snap according to other online reviews. Be mindful of the weight limit. I haven't had any issues myself. - Questionable quality control (the first chair I received had a portion of the mesh on the seat back damaged with no visible damage to the plastic in which the seat back was enclosed. To me, this indicated that the damage was likely there when the chair was packaged. I couldn't get a replacement back sent to me so had to send the original one back and have a new one shipped to me. This was at no additional cost to me, but did take another week.). If you're looking for a smart alternative to the Herman Miller Aeron chair that won't require you to get a second mortgage on your house then definitely give the HON Ignition 2.0 a look. There are cheaper options out there, but for me, this chair struck a good balance between design, material quality, and price to support my broken back and bony derriere. With Amazon's return policy you'll have an opportunity to try out the fit and feel for yourself. Just make sure you check the quality of the parts before you spend time assembling the chair. ... show more

  • Big and so-so
Color: Black Mesh Style: Advanced Synchro-Tilt
I'm a 6'0" 200 pound man - this chair is too big. It's lowest setting has my femurs sloping downwards. Whoever designed this was either a giant or didn't know where to start. It looks nice I guess. Feels alright to sit on. The back is comfortable and can tilt back if you lean on it, which is nice. On the highest setting my heels don't touch the ground. It's just ridiculously dimensioned. If I wanted to sit upright with good posture I would have to put a 4 inch thick block under each foot. The wheels roll fine, it's a bit heavy but that's no big deal, I don't lift it often. This chair was an improvement for me over what I was using before, but it's not something I would recommend to anyone under 6'8" tall. ... show more
