Description

This Home Styles large server with wood top is constructed of hardwood and wood products in a white finish with a natural wood top. It includes three utility drawers, two wood framed cabinet doors with an adjustable shelf for plenty of inside storage, and a center wine storage area that can be removed if open storage is desired. The hutch features two wood framed doors with Plexiglas, and an adjustable shelf inside for plenty of storage. The perspective of the images in the building instructions was not clear. We had to take some steps apart & start again several times. The sizing in general is also a bit smaller than I anticipated but it works in our space & is functional after all. Also there was So Much packaging. It was well packaged to protect everything but it felt super wasteful. I'd say the quality is better than most things but is still lacking a bit.     • It's a rarity, I must say wow!
I've built dozens of kit furniture pieces over the last 20 years. As general rule, I don't expect much out of these kits as particle board is rubbish and the kits are thrown together with the cheapest materials. HOWEVER, this buffet breaks those norms. First, I could tell the density of the particle board was of good quality. Second, it came with the majority of dowels and drawer sliders pre-installed (a first for me). As I assembled, I could tell someone really put the time and thought into how to make this an easy job for the assembler. Lastly, I believe certain pieces within the build were actual solid wood. For example the footings, drawer faces, etc. It was hard to tell as the majority was painted, not cheap fascia. Packaging was good. The boxes came in with several spots of "oh my that's a big hole, hope it's ok." I had virtually no damage and pleased to see the way the pieces were arranged and protected. ... show more

My young son and I built this in 2.5 hours. We took our time and this included breaking down all the packing materials and putting away our tools. The instructions are easy and simple to follow. As you'll see in one of the photos, every bag is labeled so make sure you read each step to locate which bag you need. For example the same type of screw will offer a Long and Short version. That matters. Though we used power tools for the Allen bolts, a screwdriver is all you need to tighten the screws. Use a low torque drill if you do so as screw heads strip easily. Make sure you use the right size screwdriver bit. The engineering team did amazing with the packaging. That said, the box came damaged on the outside but I couldn't tell you how several pieces came with cracks, pits, or nicks in the wood. I don't think it was from shipping. Most are not visible on our unit but still, you pay money for a complete item. A couple of our cracks ran across where the CamLocks go. So there is added risk here. We did not cause the cracks from tightening these CamLocks. Do yourself a favor and make sure you attach the top unit to the wall. The supplied brackets and method used to join the two pieces leave room for improvement. I do not have high hopes for anyone if the unit is disassembled to be moved to another room or a move to new home. The screw holes will require thicker screws than the ones currently installed. So plan ahead if you ever relocate. The unit comes in three different boxes. Open one at a time and use the box unfolded as a way to lay out your parts. Notice that each part is labeled. And yes, like others have said, the unit is not true white but ours looks great other than the few black smudges that take some time and effort to remove. The drawer faces may not be perfectly squared once done. Make sure not to over tighten as you build the drawers. The Engineers made smart decisions in how they prepped the face of the drawer for us to assemble but as you'll see in the photo, the drawers are not straight but I feel comfortable in my skill set to say that this was not avoidable. Not much we can do. Just our luck of the draw. We hope you fair better. Other things to note: -Each shelf has three options for height. -The doors can pull off the hinges. At any time you can lift up on a door and it will come off. If you've owned a Jeep, you'll know what I mean. Shouldn't be a problem and will help with moving in the future. -Get ready for a lot of trash and recycling. We would still order this unit again. ... show more

First things first: I absolutely LOVE the look and functionality of this buffet/hutch combo. The price was right, the size is right, it's beautiful, and fits my decor wonderfully -- no doubt about it. I bought it primarily to serve as a drink bar and to store my dishes in as our new home has no overhead cabinetry. For these purposes, it performs exactly as I hoped it would. The cabinets doors have strong magnets and the drawers slide effortlessly on their tracks. But now for the downsides: Shipping! When you order, nowhere does it say that this item will come in 3 separate boxes. Not even Amazon nor UPS could tell me how many boxes I should be expecting which became an issue after I received 2 very large boxes and began to assemble. It was only then that I realized the entire lower buffet portion was missing. Because the boxes were separated with some of them arriving earlier than originally estimated, I decided to wait a few days and see if the missing piece showed up on schedule. It did not. Nor did the tracking ever suggest anything had been delivered at all. Insert my call to customer service. They were trying to be helpful, but replacing the item wasn't as option as they were no longer in stock, and I didn't want a refund because I really didn't want to try and disassemble and repack the entire hutch. I just wanted the missing buffet! I was at my wits end after weeks of going back and forth between the seller and the carrier with everyone suggesting it must have just gotten lost and to file a claim, I was about to give up and just continue storing my dishes in a plastic bin on the floor. The assembled hutch sat there on my dining room floor, looking as lovely and lonely as ever. Eventually I did start the claim process, and low and behold, the third box showed up two days later. Great. Not so great -- the assembly. Unpacking the item will take a solid 20-30 minutes. It's incredibly well packed, which is great - despite the fact that I still wound up with side panel that had a large scratch down the side. But the amount of cardboard and styrofoam that you'll have floating around your house it irritating. I will give mad props to the manufacturer for provided enough hardware (including extras) and very detailed step-by-step instructions. All the pieces were clearly labeled. But it took 2 of us over 2 hours to assemble, and we easily could have used the extra hands of a 3rd person. I don't think it's possible for one person to assemble this on their own without damaging something. Also, there are pre-drilled holes for the cam screws/locks that were not drilled/sized correctly. This is incredibly problematic when using cam screws since you can't just drill a bigger hole as it will mess up the threading capability. This is to say that there are a couple spots where I was unable to use the cam screw/lock mechanism and had to drill a 3" screw through the pieces instead to hold them together. This likely weakens the item as a whole, and certainly isn't pleasing to the eye. I honestly fear the day that we have to move again because I doubt we'll be able to move this item without it falling apart. So, do I love the hutch/buffet that's sitting in my dining room? Yes, from a visual and functional aspect. Was it worth the headache that came with the shipping, trash, and impending doom that will come when relocating? Absolutely Not. ... show more
