The first question everyone will have is does it weld? The answer to that question is yes, with a significant number of caveats. First, the max amperage that is advertised of 200 amps is not accurate. The max output amperage is 104 amps measured with an ammeter. This means that you can use a 3/32 7018 rod. Secondly, the cable size will not handle 200 amps. It will barely handle 100 amps. Third, the accessories they send are straight-up garbage. It comes with a set of thin cotton gloves, which are not what you want for welding, as a matter of fact, they are a hazard. The handheld shield does not even come with a proper welding lens. Please do not use this, as you will have regerts very quickly. Now, if you are looking for a super cheap welder for science experiments, this may be a good value.

This Little machine isn't half bad considering the price it's selling for. It's only good for short weld sessions as it doesn't have a very high duty cycle. It also performs best using 1/16 or 3/32 diameter welding rods. If you try to jump up to 1/8 it's going to struggle on you a bit. Arc starts a pretty good and it actually lays down a fairly decent bead running a 3/32 7018 rod. I use these little machines for quick jobs that I don't want to lug out my bigger nicer equipment and they work good for that. You really can't go wrong with the price, it's still kind of blows my mind you can get a welding machine for this price this day and age.

I have always wanted to learn to weld, but didn't want to invest a lot. This little welder probably wouldn't be appropriate for larger jobs, but for someone just learning it's perfect. I would recommend looking into some additional accessories, since what comes with this are not very practical, but as far as a beginning welding machine this thing is awesome!

I've had the chance to use this Home Stick Welder, and it's proven to be a reliable tool for my welding projects. The 110V compatibility means I can use it at home without needing a special outlet, but limits the power traditional 220v units have. The hot start feature really helps in getting a good arc initiation, which is particularly useful for beginners or when dealing with less than perfect rods. The LED display is clear, making it easy to adjust amperage settings on the fly. The build quality feels good and the unit does not overheat as quickly as the hand held units do. It does a great job on thinner metals, but even then it is not a continuous duty cycle welder. Bottom Line: A practical, entry-level welder for home use with useful features like hot start and no special outlet needed. I recommend it for that use case.

This is a great starter stick welder. The hot function makes starting an arch a breeze. The 110v limits your metal thickness and the short duty cycle means smaller jobs. Thin rods and small jobs this is perfect for starting out or if you have a small job that you don't want to get the big guns out. At this price really can't go wrong.
