The media could not be loaded. I was deciding between this cranberry red heater and the Duraflame red heater that was over $100 more in price. Unlike the Duraflame (with its odd log placement..what were they thinking!?..and unnatural looking fire effect), this unit has what looks like red hot embers and log pile. I was concerned that the front doors on the unit might be a little too old fashioned? Also.. there weren't many reviews of this product online and usually I count on volume of reviews when I decide a purchase. But with its superior red color, better fire element, and size (its pretty big!) I decided to go ahead and buy it and take a chance. And i'm glad I did! The unit arrived a week early! I received it about 4 days ago. It is a good size, meaning it is bigger than my other smaller fire element heater that looks like a thing you move from room to room. This heater is a furniture piece. It's not heavy or too large, its just right to fill that space in the den and anchor it with cool light feature and heat for your toes. Also...the red color is really beautiful.. it adds some decorative flare! Outshines the Duraflame red color by a mile in my humble... As for its quality, the legs are a hard rubbery plastic. Sturdy enough to get the job done and very easy to screw on to the unit with a Phillips head screwdriver. When I plugged it into the wall on a regular outlet socket and hit the switch it came right on. I am impressed immediately by the realistic flames dancing over the glowing ember insert. The view from either side is also very good. It has a barrel shape black backdrop, so when looking at the unit through the big glass windows to its left & right side, the flames are clear and realistic. Now for the downside (not huge, but still..) first, the back of the unit when I turned it on had a low rumble sound. When I pressed my hand on the back, it stopped. So I think I need to tighten the back of the unit so the fire effect doesn't make it vibrate. I solved that problem by a little MacGyver action. Now it's quiet (not silent) but so low it's like white noise. Second, the heater hasn't heated the room it is in very well. But that may not be the heater's fault. I have it in my den with very high vaulted ceilings. All that good heat may be hanging out by the rafters! I can feel the heat blowing out very well when I stand in front of it. The heater part isn't as important to me as the fire effect, so it's not a deal breaker. And if it were in any other normal room I'm pretty sure it'd get toasty fast. So don't let that scare you off. All in all, it's a really nice unit, and 1/3 less than its closest competitor offering a red colored heater. It looks very realistic and is cozy as hell day & night. I recommend. I knocked off 1 star because of the rumble I had to address. But again..it's a minor thing compared to what you're getting. Hope this helps you decide! ... show more

Great style can work in any room to add a little ambience and heat at the same time. The only Con would be that you have to open the doors to turn it on and off it would’ve been nice if it had a remote but other than that works great.

The best deal because it’s really light and easy to move from room to room. No remote, but just turn on the heat and flame with a switch. You can control the fan speed for the heater. Heats a medium room in seconds and a big room in about twenty minutes. So cute in the red. I have denim duvet and red accents in our guest room. Turn this baby on while watching a movie with the lights out and instantly you’re warm and cozy. It’s actually very romantic. ... show more

I originally bought one of these heaters four or five years ago. After about a year of use, the light bulbs that create the artificial flame, blew, but the heater still worked great. A few weeks ago, for some reason, the artificial flame came back on. Not sure what happened at that point, but the unit did overheat and the plug got so hot it melted my wall outlet. When it was time to replace it, I bought the same unit again because I like it so much and it works so well. ... show more
