I didn’t contact this seller nor plan on reaching out for any type of refund or compensation. For this, I’m giving a 5 star review. Great customer service! And I’m excited for my son to try out his new net. Net appeared to be sturdy and I bought this since it was compact and could easily be carried in my son’s fishing bag. Unfortunately, it snapped in half the first time he used it. I’m giving 3 stars because he hooked an 8 lb trout and I believe under different circumstances this net would have been just fine (smaller fish). Customer service reached out concerning the broken net. I had already purchased another one, same Restclould Net as I was hoping I just had bad luck. Customer service sent me the stronger net, which is the same great design but a lot stronger materials. The new net is much better for my son, he is having a ball catching frogs and fish... even a snapping turtle. I've had no issues with the net I purchased as a replacement but he prefers the stronger built net. I would recommend either but spend a couple dollars more for the stronger version, you won't regret it. Great company to deal with. Old review I have to admit.... I’m disappointed. Perhaps I received a dud but the top pole for the net broke after a day. I really liked the design and that the net was so portable. Bought it for my 11 year old to catch frogs at the pond. Nothing big or heavy. He had the pole extended all the way and it snapped at the connection for the telescoping. Very light weight and great design. Just needs to be a bit stronger. It's a great design and it's very compact and easy to travel with. The net also doesn't tangle. The pole itself is hollow but feels sturdy enough for small to medium fish. It also extends and retracts as needed. I caught some bass while swimming under water with it but unfortunately I had the pole fully extended for one of them and since it wasn't designed to be used under water the pole snapped in half. ... show more

Bought this net for crabbing, but the quality is terrible. The aluminum handle is extremely thin and weak. It snapped on the very first use while pulling up crabs — and I wasn’t even using much force. Completely unreliable and clearly not designed for real use. Feels very cheap and poorly made. Reading the bad reviews and looking at the review pics makes one thing perfectly clear: people are misusing this net. They cheaped out and bought a lightweight net meant for smaller fish and claim it's bad because they should have bought a larger net. In other words, it's all user error. This is a great net at a great price. It's sturdy and well built, and most importantly -- it's meant for small fish. Three pounder trout? Yeah, excellent. 15 pound fish? Nope, go buy something bigger. Bank fishing? Yeah, this works great. You can pull out fish easily with it, especially if you're on a dock or other spot that puts a railing in front of you. It's easy to adjust the length and the net is nice and wide to scoop up a fish. If you need a net for your boat, this isn't it. Don't buy this. Go buy a bigger net. ... show more

This net is great for packing into a backpack. It does not hold up very well. I had mine for about a month and used it on maybe a dozen fish. The first issue I had was with the mechanism that holds the net open. The clip that slides into place to hold the net open started getting really difficult to disengage to fold the net back up. I had to start hitting it with a stick or rock to get the net folded. Very soon after that, the glue that holds the aluminum and plastic fittings together failed at one joint. What finally killed it was trying to land an 8 pound catfish. I didn't lift the fish all the way out of the water but the maller shaft near the net failed and kinked. We all know that there is no bending aluminum back into place. It is good for storage and light duty but if you are going to be using it often or with medium to heavy fish then it is not the right product. ... show more

    • Reasonably Priced Light Weight Telescoping Fish Net

I have not yet had the opportunity to try this product on an actual fishing excursion; however, my indoor inspection and testing of the product have left me very satisfied. The folding and telescoping features of the net and pole are easy to utilize. And the pole appears to be reasonably sturdy when fully extended. The product is compact and light enough to be an easy addition to my backpacking gear for my longer hiking trips into the wilderness. It is also easy to attach externally to the daypack that I use to carry my fishing gear when I am driving to a fishing location. It would be nice if the product came with a velcro strap to wrap the net tightly around the collapsed pole when it is being transported. Another nice addition would be a stuff sack to compress and protect the netting when it is being transported in a backpack or other gear carrying bag. These items are easy to buy separately and I will do so to help keep this equipment protected. As most of the fish I catch weigh under 5 lbs with only a few of the bass or catfish I am lucky to catch even roughly approaching 10 lbs.; I believe the netting will be sturdy enough to hold whatever I catch without sustaining any tears or damage. However, for someone who wants to use this net to land bigger fish, I would think they may encounter some problems with the net tearing. In summary, this is a pretty good and easily transportable fishing net for a very reasonable price. ... show more
