I’ve got nine years experience with hundreds upon hundreds of squeaking toys. Franklin, Our Australian terrier, As hell on squeakers. The squeakers have extra reinforcement to hold the red squeakers in place and protect the tops of the squeakers from chew damage. These are pretty amazing compared to all others of this particular type. Also if your dogIs a squeaker destroyer like ours be sure to check out the plastic reed squeaker bulk packs. It’s easy to insert new squeakers into most if not all squeaker toys.

We have two rescue dogs. Both are small (under 14 pounds) Heinz-57 mixes. One is Australian Shephard / Chihuahua / Jack Russell (Derby), the other is "75% Chihuahua, 25% unidentifiable" (Koko). And they both love, Love, LOVE squeakies. Speaking from their perspective, these are wonderfully LOUD squeakies compared to the majority of other squeakies we've had. Both pups rate them as waggy-waggy tails up! just for the loud squeak factor alone. Koko (who has a shorter muzzle; about 1.5 inches from his eyes to the tip of his nose) has a little bit of difficulty opening his mouth wide enough to grab and pick these up. He'll happily chase them when you throw them but then he can't pick them up. So, after a couple tries, he'll run off to find one of his all-time favorites: a squeakie hedgehog. (If you have a very small dog, go search for these.) Those are small enough that, more often than not, he'll sometimes just lay around with one in his mouth, all nicely gooey with spit, as he falls asleep. Our other pup, Derby, has absolutely *no* alpha tendencies. He likes squeakies too (of course) but if Koko seems interested in a squeakie, then the Derby will, deliberately, *not* be.. unless he notices that Koko's interest has wandered elsewhere (ie, to a squeak hedgehog). Derby (who's muzzle is about 2.25 inches) can easily pick these up. Once Koko's interest in them has faded, Derby will grab one and bring it over, bright eyes shining, desperately hoping you will throw it for him. My only issue is that I wish these were just a slight bit softer and that's just because of my unique situation. By "softer", I mean: easier to squeak. I will say that they are much softer than similar toys I've squeak-tested at Walmart, Petco or Pet Smart. I just wish they were even more softer yet. Derby is getting on in age. I've seen him occasionally flinch as he's snatching up a thrown ball. Plus, of course, like most dogs, he *loves* to bite down on a squeaker in his mouth and make it squea-squea-squeak! Again, occasionally, he'll flinch. After that, he loses all interest in playing (which I totally understand, I probably would too were I in his place). Koko (who is younger) usually dominates our playtime so much that, when I find something that brings out the inner puppy in Derby, I want it to be perfect just for him. These have come the closest to that perfection in 3 or 4 years of looking. It might also be nice if these had a slightly less *rubbery* smell. Koko was initially put-off by their smell. But once we squeaked it a couple times, he totally forgot his misgivings. I don't know how durable these are, we just got them this week. I will say: both of pups went through a phase where, with a similar toy, they would have extracted the squeaker -=and=- have completely torn it into a thousand bite-sized pieces within the first 15 minutes. As yet, that hasn't happened with these. Emphasis on "yet". Either they grew out of that phase or I got better at picking squeakies they can't destroy so instantly. (My guess would be the former rather than the latter.) I hope someone finds this description helpful.
