Description

Visibility is the most important aspect of any dive. The M1 mask raises the bar for optical quality and distortion free vision. This lens is an extra clear glass which is valued for its attractive appearance and optical qualities. The low iron content produces a higher light transmittance and a reduced green tint inherent in other glasses. This makes the lens distortion free and helps improve color and visibility in low light conditions underwater.

  • Great quality mask
This is a great mask for both technical and recreational scuba diving. The single pane glass lens give you a wide and unobstructed field of view, while the black skirt blocks out light from the sides giving you a sharper image. The dual strap on the back conforms to my head very well and I have not had any issues with comfort. I like that there is no "frame" to this mask, instead it is one single piece of silicone that hooks directly to the strap, reducing points of failure and potential leaks. From what I have read and experienced, this mask fits a wide range of face shapes, but as with any mask I would recommend trying it in person first to make sure. The only issue I have had is sometimes (1 in 10 dives), the nose pocket can seal to my nostrils causing a squeeze, but this can be fixed by pulling the mask away briefly, and prevented by equalizing more often. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an upgrade. ... show more

  • Great mask, low volume.
Great low volume mask. Currently my 'go to' mask for rec diving. Low volume and it almost hits the bridge of my nose. The seal around my face is fine, but since i have a mustache/goatee, I have to shave to get a good seal. Water gets in the nose pocket due to the deep recess in my cheeks/face on the sides of my nose. Silicone seal here doesn't help (much). However, quality and clarity is beautiful and this mask is highly recommended, especially for it's modest price compared to high end masks like Atomic Aquatics. ... show more

  • Great mask!
Really impressed with this mask. Fit was perfect, very comfortable, didn’t fog as long as you put soap in and don’t let it dry before putting on your face. Was great through 5 dives in Bali.

  • Great fit, wide field of view, clear, no leaks, great price
Wide field of view, fits my face which is a little narrow. I previously, and for 30 years, dove with the Scuba Pro Frameless mask. The M1 fits better, has a larger nose pocket, so no nose pain for my "roman" nose, wider field of view than the Frameless, light weight, no tunnel vision feeling. So good i bought a second one to have as a spare. The materials, strap, and adjustments are decent, but they seem less capable than the Frameless mask. Could also be a difference in the material - Time will tell. Price is fantastic, the seal works as expected - meaning doing the suction fit test and it stays in place, no leaks under water, the glass is perfectly clear. ... show more

  • Winner in my mask-shootout!
This was ordered with a Atomic Venom Frameless, and a much cheaper option, the Cressi Lince - in my search for a better-fitting mask to avoid the dreaded dive-ruining leak-fest. Spoiler alert, I ended up with the Hollis M1, but *really* wanted to keep the Venom [as well/instead of]. LIGHT TRANSMISSION/CLARITY: This one came in a *pretty* close second to the Venom. They both claim to have optically clear, proprietary-whatever, ultra-white glass. In reality, the Venom was jaw-dropping, this one was not. Nothing bad here, and honestly, without the Venom to compare it to, I might have been more impressed. They both trounced the Cressi. VISIBILITY: Again, I'm going to give this one second place to the Venom, but by a much closer margin. The design is such that vertical and lateral visibility is pretty terrific - thanks to the huge sheet of unobstructed glass in front of your face. It's not winning any hydrodynamic awards for streamlining, but at least you see well! The Cressi was garbage here... with serious tunnel-vision. MATERIALS: It's really pretty nice... although I've read the strap design is kind of crap (small teeth that slip?) and may need a backup strap with more aggressive teeth. The Venom was nicer - again, not much surprise, and the Venom is significantly more expensive. COMFORT & FIT: Here's where the M1 pulled ahead for me. The Venom had a nosepiece design with a hard ridge over the bridge, that painfully dug into my nose, just while doing a mask-fitting in my studio. I can't even imagine how uncomfortable that would be under pressure down below. The seal on the M1 really just fit my [weird?] face shape that much better, so it became the only obvious choice to keep... it truly does just boil down to which-mask-won't-leak at the end of the day! I'll try to update this review after a dive trip in a few weeks, once I've tested it in the water! UPDATE (AFTER DIVING): After 4 dives in Cozumel, the review holds firm and I have no regrets with the mask... however, this one caused uncomfortable pressure on the underside of my nose, that was really pretty painful over time. The clarity was top notch, the seal was fantastic (again, even with my scruff), but I had to equalize the pressure much more while descending, and often even with depth changes as little as a few meters during the dive - just to alleviate some of the pressure on the underside of the nose. This is still my new primary dive mask, until I find something with the fit, minus the singular comfort issue. I will add though, I have a pretty large nose, so this might fit others like an absolute champ. Try it and see! ... show more

  • Good mask, be careful who you buy from and know what your ordering
Exactly what I ordered and wanted. Be careful who you buy from, DIPNDIVE sent me a M4 mask when I paid for M1. They had placed M1 barcode over the M4 barcode on mask container. They refunded purchase but I wonder how many times they have done this. They did not offer to send correct mask, just said send M4 back and would issue refund. Ended up finding cheaper elsewhere and got correct mask from a different seller. ... show more

  • So far so good. Have yet to see the long term . To be contd.
Tried it finally in Kauai waters but just snorkeling around as I’m no dive expert whatsoever. I am now comparing this and a necessary replacement to the Cressi Panoramic which was tight and squeezed my temples cause I have a wide chubby face. Bought this cause of the many reviews and purchases of this mask even for being the older model it’s still raved reviews. So I did have to use the “lighter method’ as many mentioned but in my case I used a heat gun since I have one and much more controlled / safe which I did see the inner silicone film burn off from the glass. Looked like defrosting your car windshield in the morning. Clear view underwater with little to no distortion. Did not squeeze my head temples like the Cressi mask and give me a headache which is what Would have made or break my decision of this mask. Did not experience much fogging cause the nose really blocked my nasal passage and the seal sat right above my mustache so there was no interference there plus I had anti fog applied as well. Very minimal water came in but I’m sure cause it’s not broken in yet , still stiff and take some time to get the best adjustments for my face. I’ll resend an update after a few more trips and use. So far I’m happy with this and I’ll be donating the Cressi to a tour boats stash! ... show more
