Unit works well so far. Have had it a week. It will cool an open 700 square ft area. If you have twists and turns you may still need a separate smaller unit. Like for a back room. Even without this unit will still make a back room at the end of a twisty turning hall moderately bareable with the door open. I give it a 4.7 star overall. It does cool well. The only thing somewhnegative I could say in the first week of 90 degree temps outside is on high it's a little loud. Not terriblely for the size of the unit that blows cold like this though honestly I think most units12- 14000 and above are on the louder side on full blast. Energy use is much better then central ac so far though. It was pretty easy to install. It uses the splasher to cool coils and produce cool air without as much electric usage. The test of time will tell us more. So far so good. Eco mode reduces consumption if it's not to hot out for you it also has a sleep mode that works well also. This in my opinion deserves a solid 4.75 star. If you have doubts, just get the protection plan or extended waranty and maintain it so you have peace of mind. Runs like a champ so far. ... show more

A little noisy, but not any louder than my previous unit. The installation was really straight-forward and it works extremely well. I live in a 1000 sqft apartment on the top floor of an old, poorly insulated building and on non-heat wave days (we've had several feels like 100+ degrees bouts here) I can basically just use the one unit throughout my apartment. On heat-wave days I have to run my other unit on the other side of the apartment but at 72F. So far, my bill has been really high though so I don't think it's more energy efficient than my previous unit. However, it works extremely well and has made heat wave summers livable. ... show more

We ordered this for his granddaughter. She just bought a new (older) home without AC. This 14000 btu unit cools her whole bottom floor. She has a ceiling fan in the living room (where the window AC is) and a bedroom on one side and kitchen on the other side. She is very happy with this unit! She took her 8000 btu up stairs for her bedroom up there. Great buy and value! She said it's not that loud and does a great job cooling. They had it installed within 1/2 hr!     • Failed Freon unit
Worked great for first nearly 3 months. Suddenly started leaking water out the front, when I went outside to figure out what was happening, I noticed a TON of water frothing out the rear of the unit, and about 5 minutes later there was a sudden loud pop, followed by a long period of hissing sound along with a faint white cloud. Somewhere from the underside of the unit, the Freon unit broke, releasing all of the Freon. Unit is now, at best, a glorified fan. No cold air. Did not disassemble to see where exactly it failed, but nevertheless, disappointing and a huge waste of my money. Didn’t get the warranty because, why? Air conditioners shouldn’t do this. It’s 2025. If I had it for 2-3 years, I would be less upset. But less than 3 months? ... show more

    • Powerful for the size
Keeps room cooler than the higher BTU Frigidaire that it replaced. It is much easier to use the remote than the controls on the face of the unit. Very satisfied.

    • Great AC, Poor Customer Service
It's actually a great AC. However, if you decide to get it, make sure that you're CERTAIN you're gonna keep it, unless you want to spend a pretty penny to send it back. For us, we had two smaller ACs on the upstairs windows, but decided they weren't powerful enough to cool our rooms. So, we purchased this. However, a few days after it arrived, our housing office emailed us saying that window units were not allowed on the second floor. So, we thought to send it back, unopened, untouched, to save money since we weren't going to use it. We soon found that the return fee was around $250-$285 to send it back. When I attempted to contact the seller, they basically told me to sell it off locally if I couldnt pay the return fee. I contacted Amazon, they contacted the seller again, and the seller messaged again to say that either way I wasn't getting the return fee back, and that I had 'probably' already used it which was another fee. Plot twist: I hadn't used it. The box hadn't even been opened. Due to the hassle, I just decided to keep it, but upon opening the box, I found that the right side of the front vent had been broken off. Ugh. TLDR; The AC is great, quiet, cools a medium room very well, and the value for the cost is acceptable. HOWEVER, Customer service is a nightmare. ... show more

This is actually the coldest unit I've ever purchased!! It covers so much space and will freeze you out! The shipping and handling however was awful. It did arrive a day early but..... was clearly dropped and laying on its side when I found it. The coil on the back was smashed luckily not leaking refrigerant and the side of the frame was crushed. At maximum fan levels the Hisense is a little louder but it certainly puts out plenty of cold air. It was easy to install. We are very pleased and it does the job of the old friedrich from 2007 that just died and cost us $700 back then. Good deal for sure.
