I bought this Hisense window air conditioner a couple weeks ago for my bedroom, and so far it’s doing a pretty solid job. Installation was fairly easy — just needed a screwdriver and some patience. It fits snug in the window with adjustable slides and feels stable. Once I turned it on, it cooled the room pretty fast (it’s about a 12x12 space). The cold air feels strong, and the settings are simple to figure out. There’s a remote that works from across the room, which is nice when I’m in bed. The noise level is okay. It’s not totally quiet, but it’s more of a steady hum that actually helps me sleep. During the day, it’s barely noticeable. Overall, it’s a great unit for the price. Keeps the room cool, doesn’t look too bulky, and doesn’t use up a ton of power either. I’d recommend it if you need something dependable for a smaller room! Give it a try! ... show more

This is great for the price. It cools my large bedroom off and then keeps the rest of my duplex comfortable. It doesn't make that much noise so no problem for me to sleep. I have not received my electricity bill yet but I'm hoping it is low cost to run. I am pleased with this AC unit.

    • Best A/C I've ever had

A little noisy, but not any louder than my previous unit. The installation was really straight-forward and it works extremely well. I live in a 1000 sqft apartment on the top floor of an old, poorly insulated building and on non-heat wave days (we've had several feels like 100+ degrees bouts here) I can basically just use the one unit throughout my apartment. On heat-wave days I have to run my other unit on the other side of the apartment but at 72F. So far, my bill has been really high though so I don't think it's more energy efficient than my previous unit. However, it works extremely well and has made heat wave summers livable. ... show more

    • Stops working randomly, then comes back.
When this AC works, we are happy with it. Here are pros and cons. PROS - it's actually pretty quiet. More quiet than the supposedly very quiet portable AC we have in the bedroom. - It looks fine. CONS - Once in a while, like every week or so, the lights will come on but nothing works. No cooling or fan, just lights. It takes unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for 5 minutes or something, then plugging it back in, to get it to work. I did try first doing the "test / reset" buttons on the plug, which didn't work. I read someone else had luck with the unplugging and waiting. Bummer because that means it isn't reliable if you're going to be out of town or something. - The part that blows out air is some inches lower than regular window A/Cs, and since cold air sinks I'm using a secondary fan to try to blow the cold air up and over the space I'm cooling. I do have the A/C fins positioned to help this too. With the second fan I'm using, it is not all that quiet anymore. - I'm good at installing things and following instructions but I had to get a magnifying glass (reading glasses didn't cut it) to see, in the sketches, what they were trying to explain in clunkily translated words. Installing took a lot longer than I expected and did not seem intuitive. - We had to improvise because our window is wider than this is made to fit into. We just used some styrofoam from the packaging to close up the excess open parts of the window. This is my mistake because if I had measured I'm sure I would have seen this accommodates narrower windows. Still, it does seem like it should be made to fit into wider windows. - This has a higher BTU than a portable Frigidaire A/C we already own, but I don't think this one cools as well as the Frigidaire does.
