Updated impressions Others have remarked about poor battery life. I had one experience of this, but I have not been able to repeat it. Three problems: 1. They seem to turn off and on by themselves. To eliminate that, I have shut down the app when I am not using it. However, they still go on mute for a moment if I interact with my phone because the phone is sending clicks and beeps to the earpieces. 2. I had to move to the smallest buds to get decent sound and comfort. They DO have a risk to fall out. 3. If I reposition them, I sometimes trigger the Google Assistant. I have not yet succeeded in blocking that effect. Telling the assistant to "cancel" via the hearing aids has unexpected results. An important adjustment I like being able to enter my own audiogram and also like the self-test. However, I wanted a better boost and a different equalization. I achieved this by reducing all of the settings in my audiogram by 30 dB. Now if I turn it up I have "super hearing" and my normal setting is around 30-40%. First impression In the last three months I have purchased, and returned the Oticon More at $3400 (insurance copay) and the Eargo6 at $2600. Both had intractable problems. Both have apps with design problems. These are larger and visible, but at this point in the world, they look like wireless earpieces, which of course is one of their functions. I have not yet input my audiology report but even using default settings these are impressive for the price. Both earpieces have paired reliably and all functions work reliably. The mute function is excellent, I have a workshop and the mute is good enough when using power tools. A major showstopper for the Eargo6 was distortion of pure musical notes and electronic beeps - an artifact known as entrainment. The Hionec system also has this problem, but at this price ($134 with coupons) I will accept the effect. Especially given that app is clearly superior. There is a slight background sound in a quiet room, but actually I like that, it confirms they are working and is subtly distracting from my mild tinnitus. There is also an artifact of some sort after a sharp noise, but again, it's trivial, especially at this price. ... show more

I am changing this from 5 stars to 1 star. The charger case has failed. I already had one replaced by the manufacturer because it stopped charging. Now, the replacement has failed also. It is a shame, because I liked the function. Two failures in less than 8 months is not a good sign. -------------- The ability to use the app for a quick hearing test, and automatically adjust specific frequency ranges to compensate for your individual needs is amazing. Each ring in the attached picture (from the app) is one of the frequency ranges that can be boosted separately. My left ear has moderate loss in middle and high frequencies, and these provide just the right boost to help me hear voices better. They help with in person conversation in noisy environments and with voices on TV. They quickly and automatically switch to my phone via Bluetooth when necessary, then back to ambient hearing aid function in less than a second. For example, while driving, they are working like hearing aids, but when my navigation app on my phone gives directions, or a call comes in, they switch to Bluetooth and play the sound directly from the phone, then they switch back to ambient hearing aid mode. I was not expecting it to work so well. These little things are a great value. They are very comfortable and light. I can wear them for hours without any discomfort.     • I WANT to like this hearing aid, but too many issues.
* I love the hearing test. It fits my ears just fine. Charging is excellent. * Battery lasts only about 5-6 hours BECAUSE I have to have the gain turned up to 80% for my (moderate) hearing loss. (The battery lasts MUCH longer at 10% but that does me no good. So battery life is related to volume!) * The Bluetooth seems like a great idea, and the music sounds good. However, the software has a hard time switching between Hearing Aid mode -OR- Music (Bluetooth). Same with phone calls - hard time switching. My NEXT hearing aid will NOT have any Bluetooth capability. (Just not worth it.) * IF you are listening to Music/Phone - the Hearing aid part does NOT work. You can barely hear someone standing next to you talking. (I want the Hearing aid part, I can live without the Bluetooth. * The Hearing aid expects to be connected to your phone ALL the time. This is inconvenient as it disrupts your ability to connect to other Bluetooth audio sources. I do not like that at all. * The Hearing test is great! AND you can manipulate the values to suit your specific frequency range. BUT, the amplifier (tuned to my frequencies) makes any external music (NOT Bluetooth) sound terrible. * Some people complained that they fall out - I feel they must not have used the correct domes. They give you plenty of domes - I had no trouble finding a pair that fit me well. Chewing, walking, talking, and working mine did NOT fall out. * There are some other minor issues, but I have gone on long enough.
