I was a bit leary of getting this item, but I am so glad I did. It is heavy as it weighs about 9 pounds, but if placed on a sturdy surface it makes a gorgeous decoration. The light bulb did not arrive broken as I was a bit worried that it might be. The manufacturer could resolve any future worries if they could come up with a better solution to protect this glass bulb by using better packaging surrounding the bulb. Thin cardboard protection makes this a 50/50 chance of arriving broken. The salt chunks are a pinkish mixture of large (up to 3 inches) chunks to very small (1/4 inch). This is good because you can rearrange them inside the wire bowl for you own creation of lighted salt. It is salt, so be careful if you have any cuts on your hands as you will feel some pain. The dimming switch is a must for beautiful lighting effects. This has many options of lighting effects. Even though the salt chunks are mainly pink/white with a few smaller pieces of peach/orange when the light is off, when you turn on the light, it becomes the dark orange color you see in the picture. This is also an air purifier, but as of yet, I haven't really notice much because I purchased it in the winter and it's pretty dry inside my home anyway. I will see the results when I have a more humid summer and hopefully this salt will help to dry out the air. I am happy with everything I received thus far and I would recommend it even with the risk of receiving a broken light due to shipping. Amazon will accept this return if that is the case.     • Attractive, functional, unique lighting
I really like this light. It looks like a basket of burning wood embers without the smoke and fire hazard. Good ambiance; very cool. My wife thinks it seems to make the room smell fresher. The dimmer works well and goes from full bright to barely on. I like it as an adult nightlight when I turn in early and don't want my wife to crash into things coming into a dark bedroom. Also handy for when I have to get up early but she can sleep in. Just enough light to pick out the right color socks to match my dress pants. Probably a decent candle substitute for romance, but hasn't been called to duty in that respect. Amber color is just beautiful when sufficiently dimmed, but washes out a bit when full bright. I recently gave a large single hunk salt lamp as a gift, but I like this one much better. I would definitely buy this lamp again, no regrets. Update: I have had this lamp for 13 months and use it almost every night. Turning it on is part of my wind down ritual before bed. I love the soft warm amber glow it casts on our bedroom wall and ceiling I have three salt lamps in the house now; this one is my favorite. Still on the original bulb, usually turned down to about 40%. I love this lamp! ... show more

So I was excited to order this got it open Wonder kind of why the top box was dented and it didn't fit pulled it out I had a struggle getting the rocks out of the center cage and noticed that the light bulb was rested inside there's giant rust stains on the bottom of the cage there's rust on the side of the cage as well and multiple places. DISGUSTING. I've ordered a replacement hopefully it will not be as bad as the first one.. Annoyed that I have to pack it up and drop it off.. It needs to be thrown away.. Not safe ... show more

I purchased the round basket late last night and received it this morning while I slept. I love Amazon.com. I took it out of the box and was surprised that the basket was already staged. All I had to do was remove the protective cardboard that was protecting the light bulb and plug it in. It is beautiful and I love it already. It looks radiant and has a beautiful glow on all the various levels of light from low (fully dimmed) to high. One question that I had prior to making this purchase was just how big or small was it. I could not decide between the "round basket" or the "tall round basket". I am glad I chose the "round basket" as I think the "tall round basket" would have been too big for my space. To me the round basket is surprisingly big. So here are the dimensions: the basket is 9 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall and it overflows with salt rocks (just as pictured). Mine weighed 10.4 lbs right out of the box. I am very happy with my purchase, and I will be buying one for each of my rooms. UPDATE: Was looking to buy two more of these lamps as gifts. Was SHOCKED to see the price more than doubled on the round basket in one month. I paid $20.13 on July 2. Today, August 15, 2016 $43.26? I'll keep my money thank you very much. This is one of the best lamps! I've had the lamp for about a year and half and still love it. It's easy to set up and comes with a bulb. There is an in-line switch that allows fading and choosing the brightness of the light. The salt chunks are all uniquely shaped and vary in color from orange/pink to a light pink/white. They are loose and you can arrange them in the wire bowl however you desire. Small pieces or flakes of salt do gradually fall from the lamp leaving a slight dusting on the surface around it. They easily wipe off or vacuum up, however. When the light is turned most-all of the way up, you can put your hand just above it and feel a small amount of warmth. The warmth is very subtle, but there. I use the lamp year round and it's great to have. I have not used the lamp for the intention of health benefits, but love the beauty of it. I have plugged it into a timer so that it turns on the morning before the sun rises to help create a pleasant atmosphere to gradually wake up to. I love that! It glows beautifully in the dark and overall is just gorgeous!!! ... show more

I have owned this for a year and a half and loved the fact I could dim it and leave it on all night. Since the bulb went I have tried 4 different bulbs and will not dim. Even went to specialty store and it dimmed in the store but not for me. Very disappointing I can not leave on at night anymore.
