As a female, making sure I have the tools I need in an emergency when driving, is ideal. I travel about 6 hours by road fairly frequently. It's nice to know if something were to happen, I have this in the care to jump myself, and not end up stranded at night. I like that the device shows the battery percentage right on it, and that it can be used as a battery backup for several things. When I've traveling, I'm usually working off several electronic devices during that time. It's nice to know I've got a backup battery if I get stuck in a coffee shop or library without outlet access by a seating area. Its also awesome that it provides the cables as well. I still keep regular cables just incase, but its nice that it has everything you need in such a compact device. ... show more

Unfortunately had the opportunity to test this today on a 2001 4-cyl Camry. It took four tries. I have another very similar jump starter that usually works on the first or second try. This is hardly scientific. There are a lot of variables, so take this for what it's worth. Another quibble is that the flashlight is not very bright at all. Most people don't really use these as a flashlight, but if you're going to put one in there, make it as useful as possible. The plastic casing feels cheap. The pro to that con (or quibble really) is that it is lighter than my other jump starter and the case may be part of the reason. I'd like the jumper cable attachment to be a little longer, but all of these tend to have short cables so they can fit in the carrying cases...I like the digital power percentage readout and the charging ports. Overall, it served it's purpose today. If anything changes the review will be updated. ... show more

I have some of these newer, small powerbank-style jump starters in all of my family cars except one (which had a large, 6-pound handled old-style unit), so I ordered this 2000A Hilldow Car Jump Starter. It's better than I expected. Not only is this unit only a fraction of the size and weight of the old-style powerbank, it's also smaller and yet more powerful than the Nexpow jump starter I bought just 1.5 years ago. See the photo for the size comparison...the case holding this unit is the same thickness as the Nexpow case, but about 40% shorter, so it fits perfectly in the spare tire well in my car, where it's out of the way and not bouncing around. My unit came 81% charged and took 35 minutes to fully charge to 100%. The digital display is a huge bonus compared to the "4 tiny lights" charge indicators on some other brands. As a jump starter, this unit is simple and easy to use, nothing complicated about it. As a powerbank, you could probably recharge your iPhone a hundred times or more. But the best part is the cigarette-lighter-style attachment that lets you use the Hilldow to run an air compressor (or a hundred other things) without running down your car batter. I need to use an air compressor WAY more often than I need to jump-start a battery, and now I can plug my compressor straight into this powerpack and not be tethered to the car and not be limited by the length of the compressor power cord. I plugged an air compressor into this powerpack a few minutes ago and it ran REALLY strong. This is a great unexpected bonus. Overall, this is a FAR better unit than the Nexpow units we have, and at about the same price. My only nitpick is that the USB ports have no covers of any kind, they are exposed to the elements, which could be an issue if this unit needs to be used in the rain. Having owned a similar jump starter for a couple of years, my sainted wife was suitably impressed when my car's battery died in a parking lot whilst out of town and I nonchalantly retrieved my power pack from the trunk, clipped on the cables, and avoided having to ask randos for a jump start. On that day, I truly was all that is man. Now that she is aware of such amazing technology, she wanted me to acquire one for her own hooptie. Thinking that was a good idea and that it would be downright gallant of me to provide her another small measure of motoring safety, I looked at this affordably priced unit from Hilldow. The specs are what got my attention: seemed like a powerful little box and perfectly capable of juicing an anemic Mazda engine should the time come. Once the Hilldow arrived, I was actually surprised by the entire package: it comes with a very nice somewhat-hard sided travel case that neatly compartmentalizes the power pack from its attendant cables and wires. The actual battery charged quickly and easily from a wall-mounted USB and, not having an actual vehicle in need, I clipped it only a core battery in my garage that's been dead for six years. The Hilldow tried it's best to revive that zombie so I am certain it will work well on an underhood battery that has only recently given up the ghost. Peace of mind at a low, low price. If you can get over the strong smell of Chinese factory when you first open the carrying case, you're gonna love this baby! ... show more
