Description

Engineered for performance, design, value and extreme reliability, Power Pet doors are motor driven and activated by a tiny ultrasonic collar. Other electronic pet doors merely unlock a hinged panel, requiring your pet to push it open. That's something that a lot of pets don't like to do. Patented Power Pet doors open completely under their own power. They feature a translucent door panel made of a new super-strength, bulletproof resin. When your pet approaches, the air-tight panel quickly and quietly powers upward, disappearing into the stylish housing. Because the panel moves up and down and does not swing out, it can be mounted in hermetically sealed grooves for air- tight closure. This mounting arrangement makes it impossible for an intruder to kick it out. An automatic dead-bolt locking feature adds a higher level of security to your home. The result is the most secure pet door against intruders and stray animals. Your pets are empowered to come and go as they please. Their animal friends are politely asked to stay out. Power Pet doors are completely wind and weather-proof with an air-tight sealing system. Power Pet's directional sensing system is pretty amazing as well. The digitally coded signal emitted from your pet's ultrasonic transmitter collar allows the Power Pet to work almost like magic, opening only when your pet is on a direct approach. 4-way access control lets you select from In Only, Out Only, Full Access or Closed and Locked. Dual range controls let you set independent inside and outside activation distances. Panel size: 12-1/4 by 16-inch for pets up to 100-pound. Operates on AC adapter (included). Optional backup battery (model B12V-1.3) snaps into the battery compartment to keep your Power Pet door functioning in the case of a power outage, or if you prefer to operate solely on battery power. Door is also operated by Humane Contain RX-10 multi-function collar for X-10 dog fence system.

  • Easier than I expected, Works as expected!!
Size: Medium
This product has been amazing so far. I expected the best at this price point and I was definitely not let down. Installation - With a hole saw and a jig saw you can get this done pretty quick. I think it took my neighbor and I about an hour and a half to install this and we did this with the door still in the frame. I took the outside piece (the smaller one) and centered it so the bottom of the opening was pretty close to my smallest dogs arm pit, put a level on it and traced it out. Used a hole saw for a starter hole for the jig saw (make a couple holes) and cut out the square. Once cut out I used a white waterproof silicone to add an extra barrier of sealant on the inside and outside pieces, this will also help with holding this in place as I have one of those really weird "Thermal" doors where its basically made of PVC and filled with foam so the screws only have about 1/4 inch of PVC to hold onto. Use - I have a Maltese (Dexter) and a Westie (Spencer), Dexter is a very skiddish dog and did not like to at first, the opening and closing of the door freaked him out and he would run away. There is a manual open button so I would press that and walk outside with a treat and no joke within 1 day they would use the door to go outside with me standing there and asking if they wanted to go outside. (I am still on day 2 of the door so I am not sure if they use it when I am not there but every time I ask if they want to go outside they use the doggy door and come back in) I will update in a week or so. Quality - You get what you pay for, its a great door. There are control knobs for each sensor so I have the inside sensor set a little lower so they have to be within 2-3 ft of it and the outside one bumped up like 2 notches so it opens once they get on the patio within 4-5 ft of it. Recommendations - I would highly recommend getting the battery for it, I am ordering one after I leave this review. It plugs in so if the power goes out your dogs cant go outside without you home. Security - The hole itself on the size I got is pretty small, a child would have a hard time getting through the hole let alone an adult or midget. The collars are "plug and play" so anyone with this type of dog collar could get it open but lets be honest, chances are slim someone would have the collar on them and even if they did the hole is super small they would probably use another point of entry... There are also buttons to enable or disable sensors so you can disable the sensors at night time if the dogs sleep with you if you are worried about security concerns. Overall - The product is great, I would just recommend having treats on hand and ONLY allowing your pets to use the new doggy door to go outside for a few days, once they get used to it the quality of life for your pet will go through the roof. Just like us they can decide to relieve themselves when they want to. EDIT : The collars come with enough "Strap" to fit on any size dog, once you install it, cut it to the desired length and then take a lighter to the frayed edge and squish it with your finger tips to keep it from fraying and pulling apart like a sweater... ... show more

  • Changed my life
Size: Medium
This item changed my life. While I love my kitties, it was becoming quite tedious having to get up & down every 5 minutes or so to let them in or out. My first thought was that I couldn't use one of these because the door in which I originally wanted to install it was glass, but it turns out one can take such a door to a glass cutter, who can cut a hole to accommodate the electronic door. Then I thought about it a bit more & decided to buy two of these. One leads out from my kitchen to my garage, and the other leads from the garage to outside. That way I avoided having to remove the glass door & part of its lattice work, hauling it to the glass cutter & so on. While someone experienced at basic carpentry could probably do the installation (detailed instructions are included), I elected to have a pro install them. He did a fantastic job & the doors have consistently performed magnificently. My male kitty, who is a bit bolder than my female, took to it right away & in no time was going in & out as he pleased. At first, the "whoosh" noise of the door opening & closing spooked my female kitty but her curiosity at what the male cat was doing soon overcame her apprehension & she too was letting herself in and out. My only problems have been with the collars, and a couple of issues with the doors. My cats kept clawing at the collars at first because they weren't used to wearing collars. The male cat managed to pop off the collar's battery cover but I found it, clicked it right back on & he hasn't dislodged it since. The other issue was that my female has somehow managed to slip completely out of her collar a couple of times while outside. Luckily, I found the collar the first time. The second time I had to order a new collar. I now keep a few spares collars (and spare batteries) around. It's a minor annoyance that their collar batteries are proprietary but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. And one time the inside door's inner sensor seemingly quit working & the cats couldn't get out (BTW, one can set the door to let them in only, out only, both, or neither). Anyhow I checked the company's website, which has troubleshooting information. Through that I determined I needed a new sensor. They sent it free (along with detailed installation instructions) because I was under warranty. But for some reason, before I got around to replacing it the original one started working again & hasn't malfunctioned since. And occasionally the door in the garage can freeze shut if temps outside get extremely low. We've started keeping the cats indoors in winter anyhow since one of them caught pneumonia & almost died. That door also started squeaking once but a whiff of WD-40 resolved that. While other pet door solutions are out there, to me this is about as perfect as it can get and I am EXTREMELY pleased with how well they work & the support from their manufacturer even though I bought them through Amazon. I love 'em! ... show more
