The pattern doesn't show up as well as it does in thier pictures. But I don't think any of them really do. These are Chinese made, but they are extremely nice. Every bit as good as Japanese knives. Definately packaged like a quality product if your looking for a gift, they won't dissappoint! They are sharp right out of the box. But I've already used one enough to test sharpening. It was quite easy, so it takes an edge very well. Love the handles. Obviously, hand wash, dry immediately, bees wax or boos conditioner on the handles, as needed due to use. Care for the blade like you would any fine quality knife. I'm glad I gave them a try! Yes German is best says my husband, but I always liked Damascus.

I've only had this for a couple weeks, but it seems really, really nice. Great all purpose asian style cleaver...very nice quality for the money. Not for breaking bones, etc, but really good for everything else. Cutting vegetables, meat, etc...all great and does not stick. I have a Wusthof asian chef's knife that was twice as expensive and very nice, but it sticks when chopping vegetables, especially cabbage, while this does not. Great balance and weight. I would suggest coating the handle with some Boos Block board cream after each use... while beautiful out of the box, the sycamore handle seems very absorbent. The beeswax and mineral oil combo seems to retain the luster and seal it from liquids. Very happy with my purchase.

I totally love this knife. It is well made damascus blade and is super sharp. I maintain the edge with a couple of swipes over a ceramic "steel". The handle is beautiful and feels really good and secure in your hand; even when wet. I would purchase the entire set if I needed them.

Nicer than Shun, nice handle but has a couple bumps that should have been sanded on the wood knots. I bought this more for a steak knife and it has been fantastic so far. I'll have to reserve perfection until I see how well it holds an edge, hones and sharpens. Really great knife for the money. This would be a great set also, just be careful with V10 blade edges, they chip really easily.

Supposedly these crap knives have a lifetime warranty. But what good is the warranty if you can't get the company to respond?? If and when they ever do respond, and only by email cause I think they buy the knives second hand and just have their names laser printed on the blades, and if this is Damascus steel, then why do the so called heavy duty cleaver that cuts through bone, chip and bend? That's not Damascus steel. I spent over 1300 bucks and I have to constantly sharpen the blades and God forbid you use the cleaver cutting either frozen meat or through bone cause they don't hold up to the hype. Once I get my other heavy duty cleaver, I'm selling the set for 1000 bucks and buying dalstrong. They have phone numbers, reply to every email, and they make a way better product. Damascus steel made in China, so i guess the Chinese are running their tales over to Japan, buying Damascus steel then going back to China and mass producing crap knives. Amazon you really should boycott any organization that only can be contacted through email.
