The large pad works very well keeping pressure on the hernia. For me, this is clearly the most important factor. I've tried a belt (double sided) which has smaller pads, and I prefer this one. I also find this easier to manage throughout the day than the double sided belt. What I can't call this belt is "comfortable". You are not likely to forget you're wearing it, at least not for very long. This belt only comes in one size. I'm 5'-11", 175lb and I find it too small. This belt is not worn at the waist, but much lower. I find this hard to get used to. The belt which loops through the crotch area is elastic, but not padded or cushioned at all. That loop length also doesn't feel long enough. I have it adjusted as long as it can go and it still feels too tight. The only way to loosen it further is to slide the waist belt down the hips. You can't have that loop loose, or the pad will not apply pressure to the hernia. If you need to walk around, that's when this belt is more comfortable (or at least less uncomfortable); it's much less comfortable when sitting. You're also better off wearing boxer-briefs, like the model in the product description. Regular boxers just did not work for me, the loose boxer fabric just bunches up too much. And with regular briefs, that loop material rubs too much on the skin. When I know I'll be sitting for a while, I take the belt off. When I have to be up and around, I put it on. I'm retired, so having it on/off isn't an issue for me.

The velcro looses its ability to hold secure to the belt. That defect causes it to release the pressure on the hernia to compress it . That defect negates the purpose of wearing it as well as allowing the belt to slip.

I have been using this belt for a couple of months now, it has been able to keep my hernia in place, but just barely. The problem is that there is no absolute way to tighten it, meaning that the belt and the crotch strap are both elastic, and for me I have to stretch them to the maximum to get the compression I got from my old belt. We know that elastic belts eventually stretch and lose their elasticity, and when that happens, this belt will be useless. The waist belt is too narrow and rolls. So I ordered the Abdomencare belt and it is vastly better: the waist belt is wide and has more than enough elastic strength to tighten far beyond what I need. Same with the crotch belt. I have been wearing it all day and it is super comfortable. I was going to give the old belt two stars because it was fairly comfortable, but after getting a replacement I understand how poor it really is so one star. I have had this hernia for 20 years or more, I am mid-eighties now, fortunately it is never painful. I push it back in place each morning and after showers, once I put the truss on it never bothers me. So I will just keep wearing a truss until the game is over for me.

I’ve been wearing this belt 24 hrs/day for the past week to manage an inguinal hernia. It really has been a life saver. The design allows the pressure pad to be positioned directly over the hernia, and the support has greatly reduced the discomfort. The wide velcro belt band is very comfortable and makes for a very secure fit. The belt does ride pretty low around the hips, which is perfect for an inguinal hernia. I don’t know that the design would be as effective for a hernia located higher up in the abdominal area.

In general, this works well to help protect and ease discomfort from an inguinal hernia. The bottom (crotch) strap is attached to the belt via a snug loop. In this manner, it can be repositioned to allow a good placement of the 'shield'. It has a padded section that attaches to the main shield, using velcro connection. You can opt to use the product with/without the padding. The product details mentions that you can wear this under clothing, and that it's not noticeable..."virtually invisible." However, when worn with the padding, there is a definite bulge, which is not very conspicuous if you wear a loose shirt over the area. As the product details notes: "It should be noted that the hernia belt is only an auxiliary means to relieve hernia symptoms and cannot replace the working principle of the inguinal hernia belt". Given that the belt is meant to help relieve symptoms, and provide comfort while managing attending issues and pain, it does a credible job. One concern is the bottom strap is a bit stiff, and the edges may be uncomfortable if you're not wearing boxers or some other fabric between the strap and skin. Based on these observations, it receives a 4 - 4.25 star rating.

I rarely write a review, but this is a very effective product. It is lightweight, but sturdy. It is easy to get used to. In my case, my bulge has practically disappeared, but I know it is not a cure and I will have to get it repaired at some point. It just makes my hernia easier to deal with until that time.
