  • Great Chair, But Expensive
This chair is absolutely exceptional. Compared to the Steelcase Leap I use at my office, I definitely notice an overall improvement with the Embody. I especially like the comfort provided of the back support and the ability to easily rock back and forth while sitting. Before ordering, I was concerned about the fact that some users report hearing loud creaking noises while leaning back on this chair. Fortunately, that hasn't been my experience. My Embody is really quiet, even when I use it as a rocking chair sometimes. My only complain with this chair is its price. At $1650, it is more than 60% more expensive than a Steelcase Leap. I am not entirely sure if the embody is that much better than a Leap. ... show more

  • Condition report - Awful
Color: Charcoal Rhythm
I got tired of taking pictures of the damage and dirt, so stopped at 25. I also got tired of uploading pictures of the damage, so stopped at 10. I bought this Herman Miller chair because it was well priced and described as being a brand new beautiful Herman Miller chair. I received the chair disassembled and thrown into a brown box with no packing or protection. in a brown box disassembled. I assume they packed it this was to cause even more damage, and it worked. I opened the box to see the damaged and filthy chair looking as if it been used for at least six months, if not 6 years No one bothered to even clean it before trying to pass it off as a new chair. I only buy Harmon Miller chairs and always have but know that Herman Miller would be so disappointed to see their amazing product being represented in such a way. ... show more

  • a chair for work or sleep
Very adjustable and comfortable desk chair. The chair gives and does not have a hard seat or points of hardness. The seat pan extends to give comfort to thighs at edge of chair. The arm rest go low enough that they will go under desk when I swivel the chair. My previous chair would have arm rest that hit the desk when swiveling meaning i had to move the chair away from desk to turn around or get out of chair. This chair lets me swivel. I am on hardwood floors so I bought the hard wood wheels and they allow easy rolling without scuffing the floors. I have been so comfortable that I have laid my head back and taken a snooze. ... show more

  • Would be a great chair if not for the price
I have had 5 back operations and I work from a home office so I decided to buy a very good chair. I have been looking at a few, the Humanscale freedom chair and the Aeron in addition to this chair. I ultimately was sold based on the design of the backrest. I ordered this right around Christmas so I am on month four. For full disclosure, I am a bigger guy. 6'5" and 250 lbs. As far as adjustments, there are many. In fact, I must say I love the amount of adjustments. Since I am the only one using the chair, I was ale to get it to fit me just right and do not have o worry about someone changing everything on me. That being said, I find I do adjust certain things during the course of the day. For instance, the amount of resistance for leaning back on the back rest is very elpfull if I feel the urge to lean back or when I need the extra support to keep from slouching, it is very easy to change. Seat height is another, obvious adjustment but there are so many more choices available. The amount of curvature to the back, the tension on leaning, the armrest height and width, the length of the seat as other choices. In general, it has accomplished what I was looking for. It is by far the most supportive and ergonomic chair I have used. The ability to adjust it as my needs change is a very nice feature. There are a few disappointments however. Some simple ones, the armrests move way to easily. I find myself moving them back in to position constantly since they adjust by simply pulling or pushing them to the desired width. It follows then, that any movement will move them. If I am on the phone and lean over my desk, boom the arm rest slips open and, well, you can see my point. The chair is very heavy which is a plus and a negative. I have a heavy duty chair mat but I am starting to get ruts in it just from having the chair sit there when I am not on it. I know this since I push the chair in when I am not working and when I am sitting in the chair, it wants o roll forward into the desk taking my stomach with it. Minor complaints, granted. My second biggest gripe is the seat fabric. I was not willing to pay the extra $200 for the upgraded fabric since I did not see anywhere where this was recommended by reviewers. The base fabric is fairly uncomfortable. I would have preferred a mesh product. It gets hot and at the end of a 11 hour day, it irritates my legs just too much. I find it distracting exactly when I do not need any further distraction having worked for 11 hours already. My main complaint is the price. Now, I am willing to say that this is the best chair I have used but, my previous best chair would be a $250 chair from office depot. Is this chair really $1000 better than that? I think not. The issue seems to be that there are not any chairs between the $250 office depot chair and at least $950 for an Aeron which I have never tried. I refuse to believe that this plastic chair, with a fabric seat and back really needs to cost this much. Yes, there is some nice engineering that went into it put I just do not feel good about the fact that I paid as much as I did. ... show more

  • Arrived damaged.
Color: Twilight Rhythm
The resistance knob arrived damaged. It functions but the end of it has pieces of rubber that are starting to come off. Like a lot folks I’m stuck working from home, and, in my case, I’m limited to either this or a folding chair. I would return it, but it would possibly take a long time for a replacement. also came with wrong casters. unacceptable! ... show more

  • The chair is worth the cost (in my opinion)
Color: Charcoal Rhythm
I spend nearly all day working at my desk. I decided it was worth putting money into a good chair. This chair is worth it and it looks great too. One aspect that I was slightly disappointed in (having nothing to do with the chair, but rather the Amazon website)....is that I bought the white/grey chair and on the page I was on I didn't see any other options. After purchasing I saw there were options (maybe from different vendors?). I would have rather had the "all black" chair, but I still love it. ... show more

  • I recommend interested buyers do that prior to purchasing
I took me about a year of courage building to buy such an expensive chair. I finally broke down and went to a local Herman Miller gallery and spent some time sitting down. I recommend interested buyers do that prior to purchasing. I honestly was not going to buy this chair but I was convinced after spending some time in it. The chair is high quality and has plenty of adjustments - although not as many as other HM chairs - I think it could have been cheaper though. What I like is that there aren't many stress points on my behind or back. The arms can be adjusted to a optimal height when using your keyboard, etc. There are more positive aspects then negative here. Only bad thing I can say about the chair is that it can be a little rough on the back for prolong periods of sitting. Same for hamstring pressure. I usually relive that by slightly moving/adjusting myself. ... show more
