I knew I was purchasing a 'refurbished' item, but my research indicates that this chair was manufactured around 15 to 20 years ago. Apart from it clearly being an old and used chair, there are additional concerns. The chair arrived already broken, with outdated hardware. The tilt function is also dysfunctional, and on top of that, the item is both heavy and bulky, resulting in excessively high return shipping costs. The seller mentioned a '30-day Satisfaction Guarantee' without providing specific details regarding return shipping responsibility and potential restocking fees. I was only informed about the shipping cost responsibility and the 25% restocking fee after reporting the defect. To return it, I have to pay for postage, which for this heavy item will be quite substantial. Moreover, despite Herman Miller chairs purchased through Amazon lacking any warranty, Herman Miller itself refuses to honor the 12-year warranty. Now I need to spend an additional $50 to $100 on tools and parts, not to mention the time invested in trying to fix this chair. Although they do probably exist, I have tried to find a true substitue for this classic for years to no avail. This chair is exactly what my back needs. Both the packaging and the chair itself were indistinguishable from new, assembly was trivial, and now I'm in seating comfort bliss after finishing all adjustments, for almost half the price of a new unit. ... show more

    • Better than I expected
I guess for the price I should have expected top of the line ergonomics. But I was skeptical... until I sat in this chair. Unbelievably comfortable. It’s actually for my wife working from home, using the dining room as a workstation isn’t ideal. I actually had disc surgery and still have low back issues. and am more sensitive to my seating than my wife but I’m not sitting at my computer for hours every day anymore like my wife. She loves the chair. She had ergo human at her office, but was a bit pricy and she thought was just ok so wanted to give this brand a try. This refurb looks practically new and is exceptionally supportive. The price is affordable so I’m considering a second one for myself. Anyway, dinged it one star for the box arriving beat up - they really should double up around the base to help give the cardboard some heft to absorb more abuse during shipping. The chair itself only suffered some minor scratches on the base so no serious damage. Made me a believer. Also note: We’re not big people both 5’6”-5’7” and avg wt, so the B size works for the both of us. Very petite might want to drop down a size and large sizes will probably need a size or two bigger. ... show more

Chair arrived well packed and in excellent condition with no missing parts or imperfections. The chair looks like it just rolled off the assembly line...certainly not a refurbished unit!
