These knives are indeed a beautiful set of knives. Self Sharpening on some of the straight edge blades only. Light weight and very ergonomic to hold and use. Truly to me and my personal preference I do not like the serrated edges on the steak knives. The steak knives because of their serrated edges do not self sharpen as the others do in the knife block. Had I known this ahead of time I personally would not have bought them. I myself prefer the straight edge, just like the rest of the knives. Serrated edges tear the meat rather than cutting through the meat. This again is my opinion. However I will still overall give them 3 stars. ... show more

Yesterday a one half inch chunk of the handle of the Santuko knife came off in my hands. On further investigation 14 out of 18 in the block are cracked. I am stunned. They are less than 2 years old, and my last set of Henkels lasted over 20 years. Maybe it's a knock off product. I am going to get my money back or a replacement. This is absurd. ... show more

Fantastic knives, every time I use them to prepare food or dinner I say to my wife "damn these knives are sharp and nice". I read some good and bad reviews on them with some reviews talking about receiving their knives with handles cracked. When Mine were delivered I inspected every knife carefully and found no real flaws. They all have a great finish, handles were all great and boy are these knives sharp. The block they go in is a bit larger than I thought it was going to be but it also looks great and it's nice with the sharpening stones in the knife slots sharpening the knives as you pull them out and put them back. I don't believe Mine were made in Germany but they are still great. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again if I wad ever to lose these and have to replace them. ... show more

Looks great in our kitchen and the knives are very sharp. Its very long so it needs to go in a corner unless you have wide counters. The knives say made in China but it doesn't bother me at all. The quality is great. Love the self sharpening function. Should last a very long time.

Product box and inside boxes were damaged and poorly retaped. Knives and block were scratched and smudged. This was obviously a returned, used item. It was advertised as new, at a price of $200! Very disappointed. Based on the scratches and smudges, the quality of the set appears to be very low. I expected far more from the Henckel brand. Lastly, the block itself was the same depth as my cooktop! It's huge! ... show more

I just ordered this set of knives as a Birthday present to myself and so far I couldn’t be happier! My old set was great but it was around 12 years old and I couldn’t believe how sharp this new set is! Everything came packaged nicely and arrived in perfect shape. Not really being a cook, I always bought whatever was at the store on the shelf. But since going on the Keto diet, I have to cook a great deal, so I have been buying better kitchen supplies. It is amazing the difference a good knife makes. These feel great in my hand. I am a big guy. Most utensils feel small, but these are perfect. I really wanted to love this set. It seems solid, and I'm excited about the self sharpening, but it is obnoxiously huge. Sticks out further than my kitchen aid mixer, to the point that it looks too big for even the corner. I'm not sure I'm going to keep them, based on that alone.
