The shoe seems very well made, no complaints here. I had read that the shoes run true to size, I almost always wear a size 7, so that's what I ordered. It was so snug my feet felt cramped and I couldn't keep them on for more than ten minutes, I knew they were too small to hope they stretch out. So I ordered half size larger and will review when they arrive. They look like an orthopedic shoe, not particularly stylish, but comfort wins out in this case. The shoe had good support where I needed it, arch and heel and I feel with the right size they may work. Who cares if they are on the homely side, if my feet feel good. I can live with that. The shoe does not feel as heavy as it looks. They are made to support and that would account for the look, imo.

Most reviews I read talk about the shoes running narrow. I have a narrow heal so these fit perfectly for me. They are comfortable and appear to be slip resistant. Having just purchased them this spring, I haven't had occasion to wear them on ice and snow but they don't slip when the floor is wet. The arch support is just what I need. My only reason for giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are warm. Being entirely leather, they do not breath as well as the other Brooks walking shoes that I have. They should be great for this fall and winter, though.

Been wearing Brooks Addictive for 15 years or so; I order a new pair every year. I started wearing them after breaking an ankle and have found them to be very supportive and provide a firm foundation when walking in comparison to my other athletic shoes.

These shoes have very much support. I stand eight hours a day a my job. My niece who is a nurse told me about them. Luckily they had them in non slip which I had to have. They hardly have any wear after a year.
