From our home in Norway, Helly Hansen has been making professional grade gear to help people stay and feel alive for more than 140 years. It all started in 1877 when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen found a better way to stay protected from the harsh Norwegian elements. Soon thereafter, Captain Hansen and his wife Margrethe launched a business producing waterproof oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil – and the legend was born!

Great windproof jacket. Thick material. Haven’t worn in the rain but my other Helly winter coat is and this one is similar although stiffer. I ordered up one size larger to fit over a sweatshirt and down vest. Only issue with me and Helly Hansen is I have hips. 5”6”, 128 lbs.

The color… fluorescent pink was not a color option, I’d have chosen… I think i ordered magenta? The actual color I received was nothing like the photos! The jacket fits amazing, even if the arms are short.. (more length would be great) I ordered a small 5’5 120lbs Hope it holds up in snow/rain while shoveling. Thankfully the snow plows will never miss me ... show more

Love this jacket! Received it as a Christmas gift and wore it for the first time today. It's chilly (45 degrees) and rainy and this jacket was perfect. The rain beaded right up and off and it kept the chill out. I don't ever wear raincoats because they're usually hideous but this one so cute and stylish and gives you some shape.Like a lot of reviewers, I do believe it runs smaller than normal, which I think has to do with it being more fitted than typical raincoats. I originally received a Large, which is what I normally wear (L-size 10-12) and while I could zip it and it fit on the top, it was tight around my hips and bottom and there's no way I could've worn any kind of thick shirt underneath. I exchanged for an XL and it fits much better. I definitely recommend sizing up if you have any type of hips or butt, as this jacket hits right at your hips. I can't speak for durability since I've only worn it once, but it seems very well made and like it will last me a long time. Had to dock one star because of the sizing being off. ... show more

I ordered an X-large jacket after reading reviews stating the sizes run a tad bit small. I'm 5'0 and weigh 176lbs. I'm a heavy set short female. This jacket bunches up when I sit down only because I am short. All in all it exceeds it's job. I love this jacket and I look forward to owning more. I did have an additional problem with this purchase. I'm not sure whether the fact that where I live had something to do with the tracking of this jacket. I was excited to the point where I would constantly track/check to see exactly when this purchase would be delivered. The amazon tracking tab was reporting my purchase had been delivered on a specific date. The prediction was off. I had looked inside my mailbox and doorsteps. I had not received anything. the fact that I had not received any packages, I called the number Amazon provided, I spoke with a very concerned employer who did an exceptional job. She gathered all necessary information and had my jacket delivered the next early morning!!!!!!! Because of her I will definetly order from Amazon again. ... show more
