Got this for the kids, mainly, but I hoped my husband would like it too. He doesn't really, but the kids absolutely love it. There are tons of games to choose from, and while the quality isn't great on many of them, it still keeps my children entertained. The price point is perfect for it.

The media could not be loaded. This product is a clone of a game boy model put out by the same company that I already reviewed. The same problems that exist there are copied here. For example, most games on this device are just hacks of an original title game, such as putting Mario in a Daffy Duck game and only a few original titles exist such as Super Mario Bro 3 Further, the same list of games is copied a few times over to reach the 500 mark. This amounts to around 100 unique titles that aren’t the same game with just a sprite swap for the main character. Sure it’s 500 games but no one is buying a product for the same game copied five times over! Additionally, there’s still no save feature, you cannot save any progress once you reset the console. The handheld itself is fine, the joystick is surprisingly well made but thus doesn't save for the scam of 500 game claim. ... show more

There are numerous hand held retro gaming devices available with generally the same games, but what sets this one apart is the quality of the controls. They work just as well as the game pad that comes with an original system. The D-pad easily registers diagonal directions and rolling motions. There is also a thumb stick of sorts next to the D-pad that can be used if you prefer that. It has a 2nd controller for 2-player and it includes cables to output to a larger display if you want. The game selection is pretty extensive, but some titles have multiple duplicates in the library. There are also some uncommon titles. One of my favorites is the NES Macross game. There are also way more Super Mario games than have ever been published and they go off in some weird tangents. A very simplified version of Angry Birds is even on there! One bonus is that the packaging says that the system has a 1200mAh battery but I found a 2450mAh battery inside. That's double the capacity and it was a nice find! This would make a great nostalgic gift for the older gamer, or to show someone younger what games used to be like! ... show more

I wasn't expecting much but I wasn't expecting this old of games either! And by old I mean 8-bit platforms games. These are my takes on this console: Pros: - 500 games - Rechargeable and replaceable battery. - Decent battery capacity Cons: - Bulky - Flimsy buttons - Micro USB port - Flimsy volume control - Repetitive games (even older versions of same game) I guess this won't keep my boy busy long enough to last our vacation trip. I'm sure he'll loose interest in the first hour. 3 stars ... show more
