Description

The Bosch Recondtitioned PL1632 3-1/4 In. Planer delivers for pros who need to plane doors or other surfaces quickly and evenly. It delivers performance, convenience and security - with an outstanding planer-guidance system. It has a 6.5-amp motor that produces 16,500 rpm for fast stock removal and smooth finishes. The tool's ambidextrous lock-off release button helps prevent avoid accidental starts, and it has a lock-on button for extended operation, a combination that is unique to Bosch planers. The aluminum front and rear shoes are precision-machined together for accuracy, and the tool has a machined groove for chamfering. Its counterbalanced blade design puts the blade at an ideal cutting angle and eliminates uneven planing caused by misaligned blades. It comes equipped with a reversible Bosch Woodrazor micrograin carbide blade. The tool also provides a spring-loaded stand that elevates the planer to protect the blade. The dual-mount guide fence can be mounted on either side of tool, with a plastic overshoe that offers protection for the workpiece surface. The dust port accommodates a large shavings bag. This planer is built with a poly micro-V drive belt for enhanced belt durability and a ball-joint cord swivel for enhanced ease of positioning the tool and cord.

This is a time saver and versatile tool and it works extremely well. I have used this mounted upside down in a vice to square wee pieces and on the backside of a Epoxy table to allow for proper leveling. The adjustment on the planer level is a bit off but you have to play with it a bit. I do not use the mounted side rails but they look to be beneficial for folks that are not experienced with planning on end grain.     • Great buy on a factory reconditioned planer
This is a great little planer with power to spare. I bought a factory reconditioned unit, and it looked brand new except for where it appeared that some cosmetic scratches were polished out of the base. I gave it 4 stars for ease of use, as it took a few tries to get the hang of how to get even cuts and how to plane a partial section of a door's edge. As expected, after planing an average of 1/4" per edge on 3 doors, the blades are starting to get dull and cuts a little rougher. These still cut, but require a little sanding afterwards. I expect the blades will need changing soon. The great news is that each blade has 2 sides, and replacement blades are readily available and inexpensive. ... show more

I bought this unit refurbished from an Amazon seller. I fired this unit up and took about half a pass on a door bottom an the motor seized up. That said, this the only bad experience I’ve had with a Bosch power tool (and it was refurbished). They return process was easy though and I got a refund right away. Thank you Amazon for that. I took a chance on a refurbished tool and it didn’t work out. I know many other people that buy refurbished tools and they have no problems. That’s just the risk you take! I might try refurb again on a different type of tool. ... show more

I have already used the unit on my current double adirondack chair project. It is very well engineered and extremely accurate. The locking switch feature makes for easier use with less chance of injury. The bag works well, but fills quickly--a minor inconvenience.
