I was initially a little skeptical of this idea, but my kids (7M and 5F) absolutely love it! They actually asked for a second one so they don’t need to share it as often, so that’s a pretty good indication that it’s a hit. The basics: You can press the two outer buttons to hug the fairy and the bottom button will feed the fairy a snack. I didn’t realize the jar could hold so many fairies, so we’re at over 50 and counting. There is a game you could play as well, controlling a little fairy icon and avoiding obstacles, but the real fun of this is looking for fairies. The light effect when you catch a fairy is very exciting (reminds me of Tinkerbell flying around), and is quite brilliant when you play inside or outside at dusk. We have the blue jar, but the light can be every color of the rainbow, which was something I wondered when I first ordered. A different tune plays for different fairies, so you can tell immediately if you have a repeat or a unique fairy. My seven year old tends to prefer to try and catch the rare varieties, while my daughter is eager to catch those with a common interest: the “cat” fairy, the “ballerina” fairy, the mermaid, etc. I will frequently hear a yelp of joy from the other half of the house and they’ll gallop over to show me what they caught. A special code is released from time to time, so you can enter in a combination of symbols and get a surprise fairy, which gives this extra longevity, as there can always be something new to look forward to. There is an app, but we don't use it very often, since I'm the one with the phone. You can add your fairies to a list and see their names, interests, etc. Pro tip: when the QR code pops up, move your phone around slightly to be sure it picks it up. I'm glad the app isn't necessary, but it is a fun little bonus. I’m hoping that their friends get this jar as a present over the holidays so that we can test out the trading aspect, but even as is, they're loving it! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This was purchased for all of the little girls in my family as a gift and they love it! They can catch fairies around the yard or house then trade them with each other. You can also play games with the fairies you catch and feed them. 10/10 best gift for girls!

My granddaughter loves this toy and has had a lot of fun with it. However I purchased one at another store and it said it came with batteries but it would not turn on so I tried to open the battery compartment to check the batteries. The screw was so tight that I ended up stripping the screw and still could not get the battery compartment open. My granddaughter was so disappointed and started crying. So I then came to Amazon and purchased a second one. It arrived on time and my grand daughter was so excited. We tried to turn the toy on but again it did not turn on. I was able to get in the battery compartment easy on this one and as the package stated there were batteries in it but it would not turn on. I removed the batteries and put them back in to see if they were just not in properly but the toy would still not turn on so I replaced the batteries with new batteries and it turned right on. So I purchased 2 toys from two different sources and both came with dead batteries. Once we had solved the battery issue my grand daughter has been having a great time catching fairy’s. I ordered 3 of these - one for each f my daughters for Christmas. It said batteries were included, however when we went to play with them Christmas morning, all the batteries were dead and upon opening the we found they were corroded inside. I went out to buy new batteries and was able to get them to power on with the new ones. 2 of the fairy finders worked great and my kids loved them - they have been able to “find” dozens of different fairies and are having a blast! However one does not work properly and just “finds” the same fairy over and over again. It is super disappointing be because now my girls can’t play together. I was a little hesitant about the price but I bit the bullet and got it for myb7y/o granddaughter because she kept telling me how much she wanted a fairy catcher. She absolutely loves it, keeps her busy and she gets SO EXCITED when she catches a new one. It’s a cute idea and fun for the kids. Arrived quick and make pretty durable. Seems like a neat concept but not much replayability. Use once and forget.. Catch some, not even detailed looking faeries and they can make a noise but that's about it.. The idea was there just poorly implemented.

Nice toy for younger and elementary aged children. It is fun but does get a little boring after a while. It is made pretty well. Battery life is phenomenal and the toy is quite durable.
