The only thing that was hard was getting the rubber into the tracks. I found it easiest to start at one end and have someone feed it through while the other person pulls. We had to replace the old rubber seal on our garage doors cause a previous owner cut the ends. No idea why. But the space was just big enough for mice to get in. Yuck! So after buying the rubber stripping from Home Depot and not getting it to work with our time worn metal base, we bought this. Replaced the metal and rubber and it’s a perfect seal with the ground. So happy with it. Been working great for the past month since we installed it. If you get this, definitely buy some silicone spray to grease the metal track. It makes sliding in the rubber much easier. Also, it took two of us to do it, one to push and one to pull. Otherwise it would just pop out with one person trying to do it on their own. It also creates a nice clean line when you look at the garage. Highly recommend.

I am happy with the installed mount and seal. I looked at the lower surface of the door before I ordered and saw about 2" wide. Unfortunately, when I removed the existing aluminum mount for the single channel seal, turned out the bottom of my door was stepped making for two different surfaces. I was able to rip 1" wide 3/16" wood strips from an old wood packing box to make for one level surface. Used the end of a leftover tube of Lexel sealant to "glue" the wood strips, then the aluminum rails over them. Then, as suggested in another review, used 3/4" #10 stainless steel self tapping screws. (Bolt Dropper 10 x 3/4" Hex Washer Head Self Drilling Screws | 410 Stainless Steel Self Tapping Tek Screws | No. 3 Point, Plain Finish | 100 pcs Hex Head Self Tapping Screws | Corrosion Resistant). In hindsight, I would use 1" long self tapping screws because you have to somewhat fast to drill before the self tap goes through the thin bottom of the door and it is easy to strip the newly formed threads. I tried to just get the threads made, then tighten with a plastic handled nut driver, but did strip two or three. The longer screws are only needed if you need shims like my wood strips. I left the rubber strip on the basement floor for a few days, some of the folding crimps started to come out. I used the flat tip screw driver method where you firs insert the inside side of the plastic "T", then push the second side in with flat tip blade. At first, I thought it would take forever in agony. But, then I got into the swing of it finding the right position and angle for the blade, and started skipping one or two blade widths and it actually went pretty fast. One review complained about piecing the plastic part by pushing the blade into it. I think the key is if you find that kind of resistance, back off and change the position and/or angle of the blade instead of forcing the blade. Another review complained the door opener no longer worked correctly, but you have to reset the down limit. There are many different procedures for the different openers, so you have review your manual and/or look for a YouTube video for your model. All is well, this was the last step in my garage door overhaul, new spring hinges, new rollers, plastic on the roller shafts, and finally this new seal!

I truly like the ease of installation. The directions are not super clear where the metal starts and stops, after getting a couple of things over the course of an hour, I came up with a game plan that worked. One other thing to keep in mind, the greatest invention in the world is self drilling screws. They did not come with my package and I was doing a new install on an old garage door. I went to town and got some and making sure the groves lined up, everything went together total time about two good hours. I thought it was going to take a lot longer, but I was happy!

An interesting idea but perhaps not the best execution. The gasket sleeve may be too thick for some installations. After a few test cycles of the door, the gasket folded up against the inside of the door frame, creating enough resistance to stop the motor. I considered trimming the gasket at the edges to avoid the rubbing, but that would compromise the seal which was the whole point of the installation. Also, the rubber "stoppers" to be inserted at the open sides of the gasket appear to make a tight seal between the door and threshold at the sides but keep the rest of the door from making as tight a seal. Good idea but, for my garage door, it didn't work.

Forget the other crap they sell at big box stores. This is the best seal I've ever found. Put a mini split in a 2 bay garage with these seals and now can't wait for the heat pump to kick on this winter. Worth every penny!!!
