The 10ft beams of my pergola was starting to sag in the middle. Got this to add additional legs for both support, and to eliminate the sag. The unit only needed a 4" section of the pergola to be cut for installation. Which was the perfect amount to cut to remove the sag. The most complicated part of the entire project was the installation. Which required us to remove the top of the pergola so that we could have slack to install the upper brackets, as well as install the legs underneath. Overall, very happy with the results. The two 5Ft should never sag, and the added weight of the legs, as well as ground anchors, makes the pergola much sturdier. Unit itself is very sturdy. 2mm thick steel walls for strength. Glavanized and powder coated for rust resistance. Included hardware easily handled the entire project. And once inserted, very easy to pre-drill at the holes and mount the screws. Based on initial looks, I cannot recommend these pergola center supports. The welded seams are messy-looking at best, and possibly compromise overall strength and pose a danger if they fail. The welds are not consistent looking with each other, and it appears that the welds were joining pieces of uneven dimensions. The black gloss enamel paint could not hide these flaws. Some flat areas also show bubbles and pitting in the paint. I'm afraid that the paint will eventually chip or have pockets where water will get trapped and corrode the metal. ... show more
