It seems to distance and close focus quite well. It has good clarity. I once had a Simmons and this is similar. To simplify it I would say this is what is traditionally called an 8 X power item. That is it's size also. !0 X is somewhat bigger and beefier. I am putting as much effort as possible into the review, because I always appreciate them, and rely on them for informed. Purchase two of these not impressed with the quality. Not very good optics. I purchase these for watching the birds in my backyard. I would not recommend them. They might be good for kids to mess around with.
